So Tampa gets next years game also. Then Charlotte finally gets a crack at it in 2010. Sure there were two teams that don't travel well, BUT if it was in a central location you'd have tons more fans. The game was the laughing stock of the weekend.
What a disgrace when you see a full dome for the SEC.

its a 12 hour drive from VT to Tampa.
Tampa was an absolutely HORRID choice for the CG 12/6/2008 6:13:52 PM |

yeah, Charlotte is the obvious choice. Decent sized site, good stadium, somewhat central location, "neutral" etc.
although this was a bigger disgrace

god, as soon as I heard that shit I knew exactly what it was. That shit was terrible last year, but it was only played on the ESPN feed of the ACC-tourney. The normal JP telecasts didn't have it, and you should consider yourself lucky for not being subjected to that bullshit 12/7/2008 6:15:47 PM |

Miami has a lot of young talent. They should be pretty good again when the game comes to Charlotte. Never count out FSU either. They almost made it this year. 2010 will be FSU vs Miami. 12/8/2008 12:38:22 PM |
HaLo All American 14263 Posts user info edit post |
that would be fine. i know a lot of Clemson fans that would go to a game if it was close enough. the problem is Florida is a whole day drive, away so unless your team is playing, you ain't going. Charlotte is close enough to major ACC schools that people may drive even if their team isn't playing. 12/8/2008 12:49:09 PM |

Exactly. I'd go see this years game just to pull against BC. I have friends at Tech that I could go with.
The game being in florida makes no sense at all. The florida team fans will not go see the other schools play b/c they don't give a fuck about the ACC. However, other teams fans will go see anyone else play b/c we're all about some ACC up here.
Plus, there is really only 1 school within reasonable driving distance from Tampa and thats FSU. Miami isn't close to tampa or jacksonville. There are 7 schools within 4 hours of charlotte, and 6 of them are less than 3 hours away. UVA is also within 5 hours I think but I've never made the drive so thats 8. Actually, Atlanta may be w/in 3 hours of charlotte as well.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Clemson, Wake, VT, NC State, UNC, d00k, and GT.
Point being, it doesn't make any damn sense to have the game down there.12/8/2008 1:26:35 PM |

charlotte is a 3 1/2 hour drive from atlanta, but given how shitty traffic is in atlanta, that only holds true if you leave at noon on a tuesday

To Charlotte:
WF - 1 hour and 15 minutes Dook and UNC - 2 hours and 10 minutes Clemson - 2 hours and 20 minutes NCSU - 2 hours and 30 minutes (I take the back way i.e. 64 to 49, it cuts about 30 miles out) VT - 2 hours and 50 minutes GT - 4 hours UVA - 4 hours and 40 minutes UMD - 7 hours (it really depends on what time you leave b/c DC/NoVa traffic can really suck sometimes) FSU - 8 hours and 20 minutes Miami - 11 hours BC - 14 hours and 30 minutes 12/8/2008 1:41:06 PM |

I think a second reason they put it in Florida is because of weather, but that is a stupid reason since every fan base from Clemson through BC is used to colder weather anyway. 12/9/2008 11:31:19 PM |
