I'm happy we the Wolfpack won't have to face this guy again, but why would he not hold out for a better job? 12/7/2008 4:45:28 PM |

I know but does he really think Foster would seriously consider leaving Vtech to coach at ECU?
He has had programs a lot better than ECU calling for head coaching vacancies 12/7/2008 5:31:16 PM |

Updated 5:20 p.m.
ECU football coach Skip Holtz, in Charlotte on Sunday afternoon, called reports that he has agreed to become the next coach at Syracuse “inaccurate.”
Holtz, who does not have an agent, said he had not spoken with anyone at Syracuse about the job but did not rule the possibility of meeting with Orange athletics director Daryl Gross on Monday in New York. ESPN, on its ticker, reported Sunday that Holtz’ father, Lou, said there would be a meeting between his son and Orange officials.
"I have not met with them at this point, from a formal standpoint," Skip Holtz said Sunday. "The reports are inaccurate." " |

Syracuse wasn't always bad, in fact they were once one of the best programs in the country and Big East. They have a good amount of tradition and used to dominate the Northeast in recruiting. Some point Syracuse's demise to UConn and Rutgers rise over the past few years (besides terrible coaching). They have plenty of money, decent facilities, good tradition, a strong fan base, and are a name team. They will be able to recruit fine in the Northeast with a coach like Skip.12/7/2008 6:10:46 PM |

i'm not convinced skip holtz could get any job in the country he wanted, like some people seem to think. also just b/c a team is in really bad shape doesn't make the job bad.
syracuse is a pretty decent job, and about right for what skip holtz warrants. 12/7/2008 6:19:03 PM |

He hasnt accomplished what he has sought out to do here at ECU, he will stick around and end up at ND further down the road but no moves in a couple of years. He will be able to accept better offers if he held out 12/7/2008 6:36:47 PM |

it's a gamble. He could hold out a few years, but if ECU has a few 7-5 or 6-6 years, his stock can fall tremendously. He needs to go while he's hot. 12/7/2008 10:10:17 PM |
