go thers, but i have to say the big plays in the first quarter to smith were really sloppy i think we still need to refine our offense but im confident going into this game 12/15/2008 1:20:52 AM |

I think tonight's game hurt the Panthers chances next week. The Giant's offense slipped two weeks in a row, specifically the O-line, and they will have something to prove next week. Not to mention Jacobs will be back maybe not at 100% but at least well rested and will make a major impact. 12/15/2008 1:50:36 AM |

well our offense got 4 rushing td's on tampa bay and our d kept the #2 offense in the nfl to 10 points
and the giants lost burress and and that jacobs guy is kinda hurt
i'm feeling pretty good about this game...think our d will hold them and our offense will do well enough 12/15/2008 1:57:54 AM |

^^I think that Plax being out is a bigger prob than the giants are admitting. Eli isn't exactly the QB i would want leading my team on a <2:00 game deciding drive 12/15/2008 2:04:19 AM |

^ I think Jacobs being out is a bigger difference, people in the NFL, especially because it's so pass happy, underestimate bruising running backs and what they do to a defense like Jacobs, Stewart, Peterson, etc. 12/15/2008 4:19:15 AM |

Hopefully, Maake and Kendrick's injuries are not serious. They play key roles in running and stopping the run. 12/15/2008 6:34:17 AM |

it doesnt get much bigger than this... with the way we have played at home, a win next week makes our super bowl chances infinitely better 12/15/2008 9:18:02 AM |

sooo.... its still possible if the Panthers to lose out, and Falcons, Cowboys & Bucs win out -
panthers dont make the playoffs
I hope the Saints already packed it in and are ready to roll over next wkend 12/15/2008 9:27:35 AM |

This one will be interesting. Panthers have yet to play what I would call a complete game on the road, especially defensively. Even if we don't win I'd at least like to see us play a solid road game. 12/15/2008 9:27:43 AM |

seriously. this game, ESPECIALLY for this kind of team (as good or better than anyone in the league at home, mediocre at best on the road this year), can literally make or break a superbowl run before the playoffs even start. 12/15/2008 9:34:58 AM |

Basically a two week bye if we win
Next week's game become meaningless, then we sit and rest on Wildcard Weekend
The question of too much rest comes into play, but I'd take it in a hot minute 12/15/2008 10:03:22 AM |

Hell if we beat the Giants I almost hope we lose to the saints, just to see the home record of the NFC South vs divisional rivals remain intact.
That's crazy parity right there. 12/15/2008 12:11:52 PM |

No
13-3 > 12-0 division game home teams
Would love for an asterisk/statement on the "11-1" to include a fact that the panthers were the ones to end the streak 12/15/2008 1:36:28 PM |

wait... if we lose the giants game then we have to beat the saints to assure ourselves a playoff spot. If the Cowboys, Falcons, and Bucs all win out and we lose the next two : we dont make the playoffs at 11-5.... 12/15/2008 2:04:25 PM |

I like our chances in this one...the major thing i was worried about is our pass D and rush. Pass D wasn't perfect, but holding the Broncos to 10 points is great for any team, any day. And, we made one of the better pass blocking O-lines look less than average with our pass rush. 12/15/2008 3:20:37 PM |

Giants offense looked abysmal against Dallas. Jacobs being there would've helped a lot, but I still think it's a good sign for our defense. I hope we can contain the Giants pass rush, they were tossing Romo around last night. I say start off running the ball for this game and keep em honest with the play action on the pass.
Cowboys play Ravens this Sunday. Hopefully they'll take the L. 12/15/2008 4:23:22 PM |

I mean seriously, think about how crazy their playoff scenario is right now
If they lose the last 2 games, there's a chance, although slim, that they could miss the playoffs completely.
If they win their next game, they are 100% guaranteed the #1 seed in the NFC, regardless of what happens in the last game.
That means the result of one single game could possibly mean the difference between being the best team or the 7th best team in the conference. 12/15/2008 5:08:43 PM |

V Jenkins was creating problems internally too though, we started the season with enough of those

duuuur, we only have two starting DEs so you have a 50/50 shot.......it is the fatass that we gave a huge contract to that really hasnt lived up to that contract. We shoulda kept Jenkins and let thar fatass go. I guess just taking up space is good enough though.

whoa... lets not get dumb now... did you happen to see a panthers game the last 3 years in which Jenkins played well??? I was just happy the Jets gave us a draft pick for his sorry ass! He is doing okay for the Jets this year, but it was definitely time to part ways.

exactly... part of our sucess this season has to be all the dead weight we got rid of before the season... foster, colbert, jenkins, carter

with the way everyone in the nfc south has been winning at home, the Panthers could be the 3 seed if they lose this game.
...actually who holds the tb/car tiebreaker? Guess they could be a wildcard, but it'd take a lot for that to happen.
