I have a couple of old bike frames and a couple boxes of parts that could potentially be useful to someone, and I've heard there's some community-run bike shop or something like that around raleigh that would love this kind of stuff. Can anyone verify their existence?

I have heard about this shop too: you can trade volunteer hours for a new bike or something?

depends how old and exactly seemingly useless they really are.
If the parts are too old, or rusty or something, they're probably not really worth much to anyone

I have a friend that owns a bike shop in Burlington, and she would definitely take them.

Nah, that's ok. 1304 looks like they could make better use of the junk I have...The shop in burlington looks like they deal with first-rate stuff. Thanks though!

You might can donate them to the art departments at State or Meredith for students to use to make art from the scraps.

I have an immediate need for these parts if anyone has them:
8 speed Shimano Cassette (for MTB wheels)
MTB chain
Decent pedals for 3 piece cranks. Platform or toe clips would be fine.

I picked up a Novarro MTB frame/forks/bars/cranks/shifters/derailleurs for $5 and I'm trying to build it up as a street cruiser. I found some wheels/tires/tubes already, so it's about 95% complete.

1304 is open from 1-5 p.m. on Sundays, at 2419 Mayview Rd (corner of Mayview and Chamberlain).

Also open Thurs. from 6-9 p.m.

Tell Kelly, Doug and Moshe I said 'hey'.

Or give them to the Durham Bike Co-op. or Carrboro Recyclery.
