So the mother of a future multi-millionaire takes a position at the largest employer in the city she moved to, making probably $50k a year, and this is a scandal?

I can think of real scandals involving Reggie Bush, OJ Mayo, LIl Romeo, and the below article - all in the past 4 years, all with no penalty whatsoever. And it's just one school......

I think we can all agree that 95% of these hires are for bullshit jobs. She's a fundraiser? I'd think this would be a GREAT hire if she were a dentist, or a doctor, or a professor, with the appropriate credentials. Notice how all of these jobs are "Fundraiser" or "Associate Director of Development" or "Fingerpainting Advisor."

They're all bullshit jobs, and she got this job based off of who her son is. There's nothing technically wrong, but it's unethical, and UNC should be banned from postseason play for 5 years for not doing it "The Carolina Way."

While I believe that being his mom helped her get the job, I don't think it was done as a payoff. I just that the people doing the hiring may have given her preference when they noticed who she was.

While I'm not sure if this job was arranged or not, it does bring up the discussion of programs that do such things. By all accounts she does have past experience that would help her in this job. Since she will be part of the UNC payroll, we will be able to look up how much she makes. Then if she's getting paid a salary that's not in-line with what she should be making for such a position then I hope the news outlets call it out as something fishy.

Universities in the State System cannot willy nilly create positions to be filled. All jobs created in by the Universities must first get approval from the North Carolina General Assembly. Meaning, this was a vacant job that she applied for and recieved.

Nothing to see here is except for some people who are out of tin foil.
