RALEIGH, N.C. – Before they heard former NFL football coach Bill Cowher give NC State's winter commencement address, two dozen Wolfpack student-athletes were honored Wednesday morning by the athletics department at the Dail Club at Vaughn Towers inside Carter-Finley Stadium.

It was a busy day for the graduates. The five football players – tight end Anthony Hill, linebacker Robbie Leonard and offensive linemen John Bedics, Meares Green and Julian Williams – who received their diplomas left immediately after breakfast for the first of their two football practices of the day, as they begin preparing for the Dec. 29 Papajohns.com Bowl in Birmingham, Ala.

Men’s basketball player Simon Harris was unable to attend the breakfast because he had a game later Tuesday night against East Carolina at the RBC Center.

But 19 of the 24 winter graduates were at the breakfast, as they received their student-athlete sashes, a packet of helpful information and a one-year free membership in the Wolfpack Club.

They also heard remarks from NC State Provost Larry Nielsen, Academic Support for Student athletes executive director Phil Moses and director Carrie Leger, athletics director Lee Fowler and Wolfpack Club executive director Bobby Purcell.

Two former student-athletes, All-America high-jumper Dexter Adams and men’s soccer player Ronnie Bouemboue, reflected on their experiences at NC State.
