^^awesome, gracias

The wild ones are usually better, at least for cooking with but I don't know anybody with a tree

I have a tree in my front yard that won't die. I cut it down and after about a year it grows back out of the same stump.

i caught one at harris teeter one time

goood tomato sized ones

im not a big fan but i purchased it for the novelty of it, i just like eating the gelatinous stuff right around the seed

persimmons growin wild around here are hit or miss, you either get a real sweet one or a real astringent one that makes you not want to even look for them anymore

Those things make a huge mess if you park a car under a tree.

if you are on campus i suggest you try your luck on the IM fields the fence is lined with persimmons

the ones i tasted were astringent though but maybe there are better trees than the one i sampled

dont waste your time _ persimmon stopped fruiting about 4-5 weeks ago. harris teeter carries them as fuji fruit (the asian kind _ but you have to let them ripen over a week or so) and you can get them at harris teeter. When i was in raleigh, i used to get them from a tree over on centenial campus at the school. there is a tree in the parking lot.

you are right about the farmers market. appearantly they do not have this holiday tradition in eastern NC like we do in western NC. i went to the state farmers market in gboro last month and found three vendors selling persimmon already pulped in 2 quart bags for 6 bucks each. a steal if you know what you are talking about. hell, ill pay someone texas just to pulp this stuff for me.

anywho, if anyone needs persimmon recipes, let me know. i got a couple at home.
