I'd like to think they're civilized people that are overly sensitive regarding a brand of humor that they find distasteful, and would maintain their civility in spite of disagreeing with the "shock value" humor on an intellectual level.

If not, I've definitely gotten myself into scuffles with my mouth before and would not be very surprised. I've honestly never had Internet drama result in a physical altercation, but there's a first time for everything. Should I be more frightened because they're black, or angry?

I'm talking about on here. Yes, usenet has had its share of fucked up retards forever, and Somethingawful has been around for awhile, but it lost most of its creative juice (for evil, anyway) by the late 1990s, when the *chans started gathering momentum.

That's what happened at my undergrad institution, anyway - around 1996-98 all the dorks were on SA... etc. etc.
