Movie looks awesome!

Quote :
"
From Henry Selick, visionary director of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and based on Neil Gaiman's international best-selling book, comes a spectacular stop-motion animated adventure – the first to be originally filmed in 3D!

Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning) is bored in her new home until she finds a secret door and discovers an alternate version of her life on the other side. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life and the people in it – only much better. But when this seemingly perfect world turns dangerous, and her other parents (including her Other Mother voiced by Teri Hatcher) try to trap her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to escape this increasingly perilous world – and save her family.

Anyone else think this movie looks UBER creepy weird? They marketed it towards children in the theatre, but I'd be real hesitant about it being a kid movie.

Looks like a creepier Nightmare Before Christmas.

Very niche-audience stuff (when it comes to non-children who see it, anyway), gonna be a cult-classic of the Nightmare Before Christmas sort... in other words I could see this children's movie being marketed in Hot Topic stores to pseudo-non-conformist high schoolers for years to come.

That said, I'm not in the niche and do not plan to see it.

^^True, but that one seemed fucking weird to the point that I could see quite a few parents not wanting to take their kids to see it at all.

Where is it going to be playing? The only place I've found so far is Wakefield 12, but I've got a hard time believing that'll be the only place carrying it.

Saw it last night, enjoyed it a lot.

But I've gotta say, if I was like 7 seeing that movie it would give me nightmares. The movie was just plain creepy.

Did you see it in 3d?

I wasn't a big Corpse Bride fan either, but that's what I've heard it compared to, which kinda explains why it'll blow CB out of the water. The ads look creepy as shit too, I can't wait to see the 3d bits.

I'm going to a later show and I am excited

no 3D for me.

seriously, i had high expectations for corpse bride, and i wanted to slit my wrists out of utter disappointment.

this is 100x the film CB was. of course there will be comparisons at least with the art direction and tangential themes, but overall SO much better plot and flow.

but really, pretty creepy film. my gf and i were flanked on both sides by people with their 4-5 year old children, and I was uncomfortable as hell during some parts.

Wilmington refuses to ever show movies in 3D. I doubt we'll see it though. Just with the commercials my wife is all freaked out by it. Maybe redbox it when it's out on DVD.

saw it last night in 3D at north hills, and it was awesome. it was totally worth driving a bit out of the way to go to a 3d theater

I definitely want to see this. Beowolf in 3-D was amazing, however, I'm not sure it would hold up well without the glasses.

no, partly because tim burton had nothing to do with this.
