i dunno, the panthers have a knack for beating teams in the playoffs that beat them in the regular season
(cowboys, eagles in 2003) (bears in 2005)
i don't see them losing to the giants again in a repeat game, but hopefully they (giants) lose their first playoff game. i dont see ATL or ARI beating them (giants), but philly has a good chance if they can beat the vikings

Vikings better than Phille. Everyone already forgot the 10-3 clunker they lost to the Redskins last week. Vikings are a tough matchup for Carolina...as we've already seen. That game wouldn't happen until the NFCCG though. 12/28/2008 11:47:32 PM |

Vikings played 6 of the 11 other playoff teams and 5 other games against a team with a record at or above .500 Eagles have played the same amount against similar competition.
Bottom line is that they are both good teams who play completely different styles. If Pat Williams plays, it will make a huge difference in the game...pun intended 12/29/2008 12:11:10 AM |

The Colts/Chargers game is the only one that really feels like a big time matchup this week
So its easy to see why NBC chose it for its primetime game
The other three games definitely feel like a Rays/White Sox series

So if you live in the home market for the Cardinals you may not get to see the game because its not sold out.
Thats sad this is the first home playoff game ever for the Cards and they can't even sell it out, they don't deserve an NFL team. 1/2/2009 12:44:01 PM |

maybe the local economy is just really bad and people cant afford tickets
pretty pathetic to not be able to watch a playoff game on tv though in your own market 1/2/2009 12:45:30 PM |

Minnesota is even worse.
http://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/20090102_On_deadline_eve__8_000_shy_of_sellout.html
Quote : | " As of noon yesterday, about 8,000 tickets remained for Sunday's wild-card playoff game between the Eagles and Minnesota Vikings at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
The NFL set a deadline of 3:30 p.m. local time today for the Vikings to sell out the game; otherwise, it will not be televised locally in Minnesota.
However, yesterday the league gave the Arizona Cardinals a second 24-hour extension to sell the remaining 3,700 tickets for their game against Atlanta. It could do the same for the Vikings.
Sales were slow Wednesday night and yesterday morning but were picking up in the afternoon, said Steve LaCroix, the Vikings' vice president of sales and marketing. Prices start at $30.
"I don't know what to say about our fans sometimes," Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen said. "We need to sell some tickets."" |
I don't know what the technicalities on this are, but I remember in the 1-15 Panthers season this problem came up nearly every week and somehow the team would buy its own tickets in order for it to be a sellout so the game would be televised.

There's a few cities that would have the same trouble selling out playoff games like Minnesota & Arizona. The problem is that corporations hold many of these season tickets and are cutting back expenses. They aren't shelling out extra cash for high priced tickets so you have a large amount of expensive seats available that would normally sell out. According to sportsline.com all Minnesota has left is $80, $120, and 160 seat tickets now. 1/2/2009 10:48:43 PM |
