While he looks for that answer, I'll be off to Advance Auto Parts down the road.

THE INTERNET says it's probably a bad fuel cap.

Let me guess, you cross threaded the gas cap?

I doubt it. I've gone about 80 miles since the last fill-up, anyway.

I got a P0455 code on my RX-8. Vacuum/Exhaust leak of some kind. Still trying to nail it down.

Well, it's probably one of three things:

1. Gas cap is loose
2. I knocked off a hose when I was changing my oil
3. Catastrophic vacuum leak which will result in my engine being replaced

My gas cap was loose. I tightened it. Advance Auto Parts won't clear the code. Let's see what happens.

^^Yeah, this morning the guy said that they're "not allowed to do it."

I'll just do a few drive cycles and see if it goes away.

That's a solid plan. I can't think of any other way to clear the code.

Honestly, though. A vacuum leak would affect my idle RPMs, right?

disconnect your battery for 15-20 seconds... see if that clears it.

dude..don't be an idiot. He was seriously trying to help. Unplugging the battery will clear all the codes. It usually only takes a few seconds..sometimes it takes a few minutes but either way it will clear the code. You can also continue to drive it and it may/should eventually go away if you fixed the problem. I'd just reset it though as long as you don't have to get it inspected today or anything (have to drive ~50 miles before inspection after you reset)

it's a whole lot easier to pull the backup fuse instead of disconnecting a battery.

I prefer the torque of an I-4 , the gas mileage of a v-8, and the emissions of a TDI.
