...and it failed inspection I thought I was getting 35% tint, the legal limit, but it registered about 28% at the inspection station. I'm worried that if I can't find my receipt for the tint job, the guy will try to deny that he did it. Anyone else have this happen?

It probably is 35% tint. But all glass reduces light transmission as well, esp if it was even slightly tinted to begin with like many OEM cars are. The 28% is as installed on the car. Any half decent tint guy should have explained that to you, esp if you were worried about inspection issues down the road

Yea I think you got what you asked for as well, I got 20% on mine, but it read 16%. I think factory tent is about 80% on most cars now, especially higher end cars.

This is honest to god how i passed my car during inspection throughout my 5 years of college eventhough i had 20% illegal tine.
