I need to haul some gravel in so I don't have a mud pit of a driveway. Can't work on the 2wd truck today bc I'll get it stuck in the yard
Also, anyone know where I can get old railroad ties for free/cheap? Or recommend something to line the driveway so the gravel doesn't got everywhere? 1/7/2009 11:57:13 AM |

There are thousands of old RR ties out here beside the tracks in clayton, come get some!
I could use some gravel too, there is a place around the corner that sells it but $

ram rent all in clayton rents dump trailers, don't know how much. I've had one I borrowed from a contractor to build a patio, saved me alot of $$.
I got about 3.5 tons at the time for $50 at the quarry in Four Oaks / Benson. Its roughly ten times less than getting it elsewhere. The last load they gave me for $20 because the scale was down. 1/7/2009 12:10:44 PM |

the going rate for crusher-run gravel is about $23/ton of material. you're average pickup bed will hold 1-1.5 tons of material. A f450 or 550 you'll be able to carry more like 3-4 tons. This price is what we're paying at Martin-Marietta in Asheboro. Our f750 usually leaves w/ about 7-8 tons depending on who's loading, if you get washed stone it'll be a little more $ but you can get more in the truck because it's not a dense. 1/7/2009 3:29:06 PM |

like I said above, Martin-Marietta in benson was around $15 a ton for crusher run. You'll probably want to find the closest quarry to you 1/7/2009 6:17:00 PM |

lets get this going, i need some too. matt, you need to grade that area first though... eliminate the problem of why the water is collecting/standing there. won't take much. 1/9/2009 12:17:49 AM |
