Ridiculous that we didn't have something like this already, and my favourite addition. c:

This, however, may be a pain in the ass. What if you're currently in the course that is a pre-req? I know that I had the nice little asterisk signifying I hadn't met the pre-req for a while while signed up for BIO 183, even though I was easily finishing up 181.
And, as ^ said, it just causes problems with courses that really don't enforce the pre-requisites. Hopefully they'll edit their courses and make something 'recommended,' but I doubt that'll happen quickly.1/8/2009 12:08:14 AM |

In the new SIS system, there is a "check box" for each class that allows the department to have SIS either: 1) enforce the prerquisite or 2) not enforce the prequisite as is done currently.
If the department decides to enforce the prerequisite then you will be allowed to enroll if you are currently enrolled in that prerequisite. The system will assume you will pass it. Again ... that decision is made by the offering department for each class. 1/8/2009 6:45:41 AM |

When you're teaching classes with a bunch of students who don't have the prerequisites, it's painful and really slows down the learning pace of the class.1/8/2009 1:07:32 PM |

hopefully they'd be smart enough to drop the class when they realize they aren't adequately prepared
