Because Amazon Marketplace is a ripoff, if I do eBay, then I'm paying for the listing, and it wouldn't be convenient to sell on here for me unless the sale was a huge lot of what I have. Hi.

so you're asking where to sell DVDsbut you don't want to use the two most obvious and easiest venueshmm
1/8/2009 1:46:48 AM
Yeah, I'm wondering if there's anything I'm missing. I just said why I don't want to use those "venues." Stupid thread prolly, but I thought I'd check. Hell, it's late.
1/8/2009 1:47:54 AM
are there any moviestops around where you live?
1/8/2009 1:49:12 AM
well i'd say either craigslist or a pawn shop
1/8/2009 1:50:21 AM
I told you not to buy the Dharma and Greg boxed set.
1/8/2009 1:50:52 AM

Flea Market this weekend
1/8/2009 6:54:35 AM
Amazon Marketplace would be so bad ass if they didn't cop such a high commission on your sales. It's basically not worth selling anything on there for under $10, because their commission negates the shipping credit, and you still have to buy the materials to ship it in AND pay for the fucking shipping.
1/8/2009 11:31:13 AM
craigslist?
1/8/2009 11:51:01 AM
I sold a bunch of my dad's DVDs at Edward McKay in Greensboro. Got a really good price on them too, more than I could have gotten on CL
1/8/2009 11:53:24 AM
^^^The only shipping material you should be paying for is tape. Paper is free...either the paper you already pay for, or pick up a few copies of Independent/Technician/etc. Boxes/envelopes...hang onto a few when you receive packages...also if you do Priority Mail, you can get free materials from the Post Office. Pay for shipping online and you can save a little...it definitely adds up, plus no waiting in line at the PO.Ive used Half.com for selling DVDs of lesser interest, but its the same commission as Amazon, and its hard to move anything for enough to make it worth your effort (your junk is everyone elses junk too).^What is that and what do you consider a good price?
1/8/2009 11:55:52 AM
I got between $3-$6 a piece for them.a few of the multi-disc collections brought in $8 or so if I remember correctlybut keep in mind, these were all shitty movies. I kept all the good ones, so I don't know how much I could have gotten for movies that people might actually want to buy.[Edited on January 8, 2009 at 11:58 AM. Reason : a]

there's an edmckay on capital in raleigh. i was going to take all my movies and video games i didn't want anymore there but my a-hole ex just threw them out when i moved [Edited on January 8, 2009 at 2:45 PM. Reason : ]
1/8/2009 2:45:23 PM
Ed Mckay or Nice Price.
1/8/2009 2:58:46 PM
half.comcommission is cheaper than amazon
1/8/2009 3:47:47 PM
^They are both 15% last I checked, unless Amazon went up.Im going to try that Ed McKay place then...if $3 is the minimum thats pretty good...even if you lose a buck or two there, its worth it to be done with them, although Ill definitely hang on to the higher value items.
1/8/2009 4:09:50 PM
I think $3 was the minimum. any less than that and they won't even take them. I had like 4 or 5 that they just didn't want for whatever reason
1/8/2009 4:11:09 PM
are you guys ripping the movies and then selling them or what?cause honestly, if its $3 or hang on to the dvdi'm gonna hang on to it...
1/8/2009 6:24:56 PM
CD Warehouse? Probably a rip off but great if your desperate for a bump.
1/8/2009 6:33:07 PM
there are not very many people that will pay more than $5 for a used DVD.
1/8/2009 6:33:31 PM
^ That's a flat-out lie. I routinely pay $6-8 for used DVDs.
1/8/2009 6:34:28 PM
^ sucker identified
1/8/2009 6:35:48 PM
Perhaps. Then again I'm not buying the kind of bullshit that's only worth the plastic it's made out of, which is usually what you're getting in $3.98 DVD bins.
1/8/2009 6:37:03 PM
Step 1: Rent movie from Blockbuster for $3Step 2: Rip and BurnStep 3: NEVER PAY MORE THAN $5 FOR USED DVDS[Edited on January 8, 2009 at 6:39 PM. Reason : a]
1/8/2009 6:39:38 PM
1. I'm a packaging junkie.2. A lot of the stuff I want is not available at Blockbuster.
1/8/2009 6:40:25 PM
1. download, don't buy, stick it to the man 2. there are programs that will automagically steal DVD and album covers from Amazon for you to print and put in your jewel cases
1/8/2009 6:41:42 PM
I'm not talking about artwork. I'm talking about the Criterion Two-Lane Blacktop that comes with a book of essays and production photos and also a book with the shooting script in it. If I only cared about the artwork, I wouldn't be a packaging junkie.

^ pretty much the best answer here.[Edited on January 8, 2009 at 7:19 PM. Reason : no shipping, payment is always cash etc.]
1/8/2009 7:19:21 PM
1/8/2009 9:20:43 PM
craigslist definately.you can find buyers in the area, no listing fee, and lots of people check it.
1/8/2009 9:21:31 PM
^^Youre right, I forgot about the added crap...Half lets you list for free for basically infinity...they just do some bullshit where they charge the buyer, say $3.00 for shipping, but only give you $2.25 on the shipping reimbursement.I might try TWW one more time before going to Ed McKay...it just seems like no matter how low Im willing to go on the sale of a single DVD, people want to keep going lower...and it gets to the point where its not worth making the effort of meeting someone.
1/9/2009 6:56:33 AM
yeah my most recent (this week) book sale at Half.com involved a discussion of shippingthey charged my buyer $3.99 for shipping and only reimbursed me for $3to help out my buyer I spent nearly $8 on shipping so I could get it to them via 2 day Priority mailthe buyer was cool and kicked me an extra $3.85 or something via PayPal
1/9/2009 7:58:06 AM
i sell all my books, dvds and cds on half.comI go to book sales and buy boxes of book (when they are $5/box) and turn a nice profit on it.
1/9/2009 9:50:05 AM
1/12/2009 10:25:37 PM
If you have family that has garage sales I would try to sell them there. i usually list them for $7 and 3 for $18 and 5 for $25. Depending on the movie. No commission or shipping or refunds.
1/12/2009 11:37:55 PM
well to be honest. every where is going to rip you off. you have to take in account that if you sell it to some one you know is going to sell them, they are not going to give you what its worth, so that they can make their money on it. dont even bother with the movies that are not popular. if you are tryin to get money for all dogs to hevan or something, it will just be more fun to throw it out of the window in rush hour, as if you were trying to get money for batman or iron man. your best bet is to just put an out on certain class. ads, and sell them privately good luck
