My fiance was hit by a car while he was bicycling to school on Friday morning on the bridge where Western becomes MLK. He was propelled through the air and didn't see the car before he landed. He was released after 8 hrs in the ER and is doing pretty well, all things considered.

If you were a witness to this hit and run and can remember the make and model of the car, (or even the color) please contact Raleigh police and let them know, any help with the investigation would be wonderful.

Please also ask any friends you know who commute along that road. Someone HAD to have seen this incident and your tip can help bring this criminal to justice.

Thank you for your consideration.

PS: Yes, he was wearing safety gear: a helmet, had tail lights, and was wearing a big orange jacket.

It sounds more like a connection that didn't miss anyway.

Woke up at 6:55 AM and couldn't get back to sleep. She was still snoozing though. I locked the door behind me, however.

i mean would you ride a bike on the freeway (if it were legal)?

so why do you think a 45mph road is that much better

Given that its legal to ride a bike on roads in NC, given that it is NOT legal to have a bike on a sidewalk in most places in NC, and that a bike must obey TRAFFIC laws, and is treated as a vehicle not a pedestrian by the law.
Given that the person who was hit has taken that route to get to class for more than a year.
Given that there IS plenty of traffic the OTHER way on that section of road, aka folks headed into downtown.
Given that the person who had done EVERYTHING to make themselves more visible, and was over to the right of the right hand lane on a 4 lane section of road.
Given that they were hit from BEHIND, by a car that did NOT stop.
Given that the fiancée, when called by the injured party, AFTER he had called 911, still beat first responders to the scene.
Given that NOBODY had the decency to pull over, help him out of the road, or otherwise not jsut keep going.

With this list of events, it makes me hope, as unlikely as it is, that somebody is able to help catch the ass who did this, or that some camera got a licenses plate. Who knows, maybe the person kept on straight ahead and is on camera from the prison. All that said, when somebody is still in pain and blacking out off and on even with pain medication, its nice to see that TWW can still deliver non stop jokes at this persons condition.

i know. I never understood why people would put their life in jeopardy by riding a bicycle on roads. (I know, I know before all the bike nuts start up on me, it's a right rabble rabble rabble)
It's dangerous enough driving these days with terrible drivers on their cell phones and what not let alone without the 1000's of pounds of steel surrounding you if you get hit....

The only comparison I have would be like me going and playing a game in the NFL..........WITHOUT PADS ON.
(although I don't think the pads would help me thatmuch...)

you might want to check on that. people have been given warnings/tickets for riding bikes on the sidewalk especially around campus. you're supposed to be as far right in the right most lane as possible.

it's not illegal based on the general statutes of NC, so if they are ticketing for it around campus then it must be a university regulation.

just don't go playing in traffic, you are supposed to learn this when you are 2 or 3 years old.

I am not riding a bicycle unless they legalize them on the sidewalk.
