I acquired 2 series 2 tivos with lifetime subscriptions over xmas. One works fine, the other doesn't. i have done as much troubleshooting as i can. the drive is fine and is getting power but doesn't ever spin up (proven by running power from the dead tivo to it but plugging it into the data controller from the working tivo).

there are 2 boards inside - one is where all the power stuff is, the other is where all the magical stuff that i know nothing about is. power is getting to the mainboard as evidenced by the fan which runs off of it. don't know how much power, but enough to power the fan.

i traded the cmos batteries and that didn't fix it, not that i expected to.

anyone have any ideas or want to take a stab at it?

thanks,
carrie
