I can't wait for the season to start, this is the only Wolfpack team I can actually get excited about anymore.

Sad but true....I am excited as well. We lost a lot of guys going pro early but we return a solid roster.

Finished the season ranked 12th and IIRC this year's recruiting class was ranked pretty good.

^^Those first six games are part of a tournament we are hosting, we are only playing three of them (Xavier, Santa Clara, and Rhode Island once each)

What I like most about baseball season is there are so many games against local teams (High Point, A&T, Elon, NCCU, UNCG, ECU, Campbell, App). This creates a bigger crowd at the home games and makes it easier to travel for away games.

Eh, just copied and pasted from GoPack. Anxious to get this season started! We're flying under the radar being snubbed from the pointless preseason rankings. Here's to hosting another regional this year!

probably my favorite sports memory of 2008 is of me and kevmcd86 parking in front of the stadium and putting lawn chairs on top of our cars to watch the regional

pretty good view and the drinking was fantastic

So are they going to let crowds of 500 people sit where they want, or will the stands be on state of emergency lock down like last year?

How good are Xavier, Santa Clara, and Rhode Island at baseball?

I'm guessing not very and we should win.

I wouldn't mind sitting behind home plate when 800 people are there and the stadium is less than half full.

I'm predicting us at least getting to a super-regional again, hopefully with better results. If we get home-field for that I see things going a lot better.

So I got a season ticket order form in the mail and 10, 11, and 12 are for students and general admission ($7). Reserved seats are also ($7). That's sort of wierd that they are the same price. I'm still not happy with the ticketing policy. I don't want to sit on the third baseline when 800 people show up for a Wednesday night cupcake game. I liked it when you could show them your ID and then sit where you want.

I just like giving the third baseman and shortstop hell. We hecklers were responsible for at least two different errors by SCar during the regional we hosted.

so for the first few games (vs. Hofsta, NC A&T, High Point) it says we're playing here @ Raleigh but we're playing as the away team? i don't get it.

They messed up with the formatting of the schedule on gopack. We are the home team for those games.

So has anyone confirmed the student section seating yet?

Can we move to the seats or are we still stuck on the hill?

I'm excited.

^im sure we'll be relegated to the hill while the rest of the stadium is 1/16ths full......then around the 7th inning, the staff will do the "right" thing and allow us to sit in the 2 sections at the farthest end down the 3rd base line

We're hosting a tournament, so we get to play as the "home" team and the "away" team. The only difference it makes is who goes int he top and bottom of the innings, we'll still have the home crowd.

^Those games are not the ones involved in the tournament. We play Rhode Island, Xavier, and Santa Clara in the opening weekend tournament. The games against Hofstra is a weekend series and the games against A&T and High Point are a Tue/Wed. They just messed up the formatting, that is it.

Glad they got a new ballpark. I know the history of Sarge Frye, but it was becoming a dump. I thought their new ballpark was suppose to open last year. Their new ballpark rivals most minor league stadiums.

Season opens in less than 40 hours! Friday, 3:00 vs Rhode Island!!!
Quote :
"RALEIGH, N.C. — Dallas Poulk became NC State’s second preseason All-American for the 2009 season Monday when Baseball America named Poulk to its third-team All-America unit.

Earlier, the National College Baseball Writers Association named lefthander Jimmy Gillheeney a second-team preseason All-American.

Poulk, a junior second baseman from Fayetteville, N.C., was named a third-team All-American by BA in its annual preseason poll of major league scouting directors. The scouting directors are asked to make their selections based on performance, talent and professional potential. In the past, the preseason All-America team has been a predictor both of the first round of the draft and of team success. For example, members of the 2008 first team made up eight of the first 12 picks in the draft last June. In all, 15 of last year’s preseason All-Americans were drafted in the first round, and 11 of them played for teams that reached the College World Series.

Poulk, a 2007 Freshman All-American by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball, batted .286 as a sophomore in 2008. He hit 11 doubles and eight home runs, drove in 33 runs and scored 37. He stole six bases."
