Anyone have an opinion on dayco belts? Good/bad?

Is there one brand you prefer if not OEM?

gatorback has always been good to me. they're sold under the goodyear brand but at advanced you can order this K-something belt for way less and it comes in a gatorback box.

yeah, I went to advance looking for the gatorback. Where did you pick yours up? I tried to find some reviews on dayco belts online but mostly what I read was negative and related to snow mobiles/atv's.

Sno-mo's and ATV belts do NOT apply to automotive belt applications. The big reason is that they are used in a CVT role/application in which they undergo constant engagement/disengagement, variation in belt tension, and frequent slippage. MURDER on a belt.

On the other hand, most if not all automotive belts maintain constant engagement, a relatively constant tension, and see very little slippage, though they do have somewhat instantaneous variations in load (but not impulse load). Dayco's Top Cog and Poly Cog belts (found at a number of autoparts stores, including Advance) are most excellent belts; I've been using them for ohhh...about 15 years. I think they are actually better than Gates Green Stripe. The gatorbacks are good as well.

there's a company that made belts for dsm's (maybe other cars too) out of kevlar. replace once and never again

[Edited on January 23, 2009 at 3:26 PM. Reason : Power Enterprise is the company name]

Yo ZX, what kind of belts did you put on my Yota? I know they were OEM Toyota, but I'm just wondering if they by them from some other vendor.
