Yeah, it just happened. Interesting subplot though, Margarito was caught with a foreign substance in his wrap.

After the suspicious pads were removed from Margarito's dressing room, the boxer's hands were rewrapped and the fight went off on time. Because the violation was caught before Margarito stepped into the ring, Margarito's camp will likely be subject to little more than a disciplinary action if the substance is found to be illegal. Nazzim Richardson, the trainer for Mosley, was the first to notice something unusual about Margarito's wrap job and asked officials to take the tape off. That's when the foreign substance was discovered, seized and placed in a box for investigation after the bout. "That's a serious offense," an official with Golden Boy, Mosley's promoter, said. "That's cheating." Mosley was informed of the discovery before the fight, Burstein said. According to the lawyer, Mosley said he took that as evidence that Margarito "was scared" going into the bout. Todd duBoef, president of Top Rank, Margarito's promoter, shrugged and said he was told only that "additional gauze" had been taken off his fighter's hand wraps."

Mosley's a goddamn cheater himself. He was all doped up when he beat De La Hoya, it wouldn't surprise me if he's been doping since.

The commission didn't actually catch it, Shane Moseley's trainer did. Which makes you wonder if the reason why Miguel Cotto's face got messed up so bad in their fight was because Margarito had plaster in his wraps.

I don't get this. If they aren't going to do anything, why are his trainers (or anyone else) going to be less likely to try it in the future. I think they should hold half of his purse for that stunt. Boxing is already dangerous enough, I don't want to see what it is like when the boxers have casts on their hands.

I agree with the Cotto thing. Looking at that fight with the knowledge that Margarito is willing to cheat puts everything into a new light. If I was Cotto I would be fucking livid!

I don't watch boxing ever so let me explain my confusion on this and you all correct me. Margarito has plaster rapped up in the gauze under his gloves right? Is the idea that the plaster hardens and makes the punches hurt more? My question is how does having a hard substance in his gloves not completely fuck up Margarito's hands?

I honestly don't know a whole lot about Margarito (more partial to Floyd)...but is it possible that he has fragile hands and he was doing this as a precautionary measure to avoid breaking his hands? Obviously it gives him other benefits as well, but that could be one angle on it.

Either way, it's a shame.
