Does anyone play this?

I played it for the first time this weekend. It probably would have been more fun if two of the people hadn't been assholes and cheated

We were sitting around the table to play. These two bitchy girls who came over made a point of sitting across from each other. We'll call them Sara and Tina. So if Sara was the judge, Tina would clear her throat whenever her card was read out, and Sara would give her the point. Same scenario when Tina was judge.

Why does one even cheat at a game like apples to apples? Other than to be a bitch.

OMG WE WIN BECUZ WE ARE BFFFSSZS

i've always been of the opinion that the object of the game is not to win, but to make the best jokes

That's a fun game. I enjoy it immensely.

Also, I hate people that cheat. It takes all the fun out of playing.

I have experience with a possible cheater but I can't prove it. It still irked me enough to piss me off the rest of the evening. It's a stupid game but I've never been a friendly competitor.

i bought this for my sister for christmas this year, it was a success.

you learn some interesting things about your family when you play it after everyone has been drinking.

My bf's roomies broke out some other outburst-related games and the wifey had a tantrum because she couldn't take the heat when she was losing and declared it a non-competition game. She wanted us all on the same side without a scoreboard so she could better enjoy it. Her husband ed and got up to do some work so she got even more pissed. We played along for a while but it was indeed bland.

Epic A2A win:

Adjective: Shy

Noun: Anne Frank

It helps to know the judge. As much as I hated throwing down the card, I won with:

Adjective: Scary
Noun: Bill Clinton

My dad had no choice but to choose Bill. I think it beat out cards like Doomsday and Cockroaches.

i love this game!

ive never played where the judge read out the cards before they had choosen the winner, which would eliminate cheating, we typically do it when the judge reads what he/she didnt pick if they read them at all

i always pick something funny/fitting, the only people i've met who dont like the gameRagged dont like it cause they take it to literall, and think the noun has to match the adjective. or they dont have a sense of humor.

this game is def. more fun after you have been drinking

^^everyone gets X number of cards with nouns

one person draws a card with an adjective on it

you anonymously submit whatever noun you think is most appropriate for the adjective

the person who drew the adjective card then picks their favorite connected noun

so if the adjective is "moist", "vagina" might be a winning noun

you followin me, camera guy?

Some people were playing it at my bar the other day when it snowed...I'd never seen it before but it looked like a blast, I wanted to play so bad but I had to work. At least two of those people are on here, iirc

and being soulless enough to cheat at that game might make me hate you based solely on that, redemptive qualities notwithstanding

"The original boxed set contained:

* 108 green cards (green apples) each of which has an adjective printed on one side.
* 324 red cards (red apples) each of which has a noun printed on one side.

* A tray for holding the cards.

Four expansion sets were available adding 72 extra green apple cards and 216 extra red apple cards each. In 2002, Expansion Set 3 won the Origins Award for Best Card Game Expansion or Supplement of 2002.

As of 2005[update], the original set and its expansions have been retired and replaced by a Party Box with the combined contents of the basic set and its first two expansions, and Party Box Expansion 1 set with the combined contents of the third and fourth expansions, and a Party Box Expansion 2, which contains new cards. A junior edition is also available. There are also Bible, British Isles, German, Jewish, and Yiddish versions available.

On September 7, 2007, Out of the Box Publishing sold the rights for Apples to Apples to Mattel.[4]"

For a family-packaged game, seems like you'd need to add some cards to appeal to the college crowd

So on New Years Eve, I was hanging out with two close friends, and they started talking about this game. I had never played it before, but I'm a huge fan of board games. We didn't have it, but my friend went out and bought it, so that weekend, we played. She got the new, giant 724 card box. We literally went through the WHOLE box. Since there was only 3 people playing, we would each play 2 cards, just to have more to chose from.

I really, really, really want to play this game with a bunch of my friends in Raleigh. And I never thought of it as a drinking game, but that would rock.

Oh, and my friend told us about a TRULY epic A2A win she played in a game with coworkers:
