I have 3 female German Shepherd puppies left that don't have a deposit on them. I'm selling them for my grandparents. Price is $400 firm, not my price but theirs, so I can't really negotiate.
Beautiful Black/Tan and Black/Silver combinations, great lines (sire is my dog) and all papers.
PM me for more info/pics 1/25/2009 2:59:09 PM |

depends on what you look for in a dog. Shepherds are one of the most well rounded of all of the breeds and almost always rank #2 in intelligence and ease of training (behind Border Collies, but they are really hyper and not suitable to apartment living whereas a GSD is) 1/25/2009 6:54:12 PM |

Unless these are dumb as shit American show lines, then they might be intelligent. International show lines have a little more intelligence, but you really need a working line dog to get one that can think, and those are not apartment dogs either. Some of the Mals have so much drive it can cloud their judgement at times, but the average Malinois is smarter than the average GSD.
They are also very high on the list for hip problems. Unless both parents and the last 3 generations have hip certifications you couldn't give me one of them. With hip replacement running $3k a hip, it's a steal to spend a grand if you have to and get a dog with a much lower chance of hip problems, or even better a young adult you can have x-rayed.
Sorry to call you out on this while you are trying to get rid of pups, but there is WAY too much variation within the breed to try to use statistics to say they are gonna be smart.1/25/2009 7:59:06 PM |

yeah, anyone selling GSD pups should include OFA certificates with the pedigree that show the past generations have OK hips. 1/25/2009 9:08:58 PM |

I didn't mention OFA since I didn't know if any of them were recent imports that might have an "a" stamp or some other international hip screening instead. I might be giving the poster too much credit, but we'll see. 1/26/2009 12:32:20 AM |

I'm not really trying to start a "whats the better breed" debate but the info was interesting nonetheless

the pups are located in Calabash, NC which is off of Highway 17 near the border of NC and SC. It's pretty much near the North Myrtle Beach / Ocean Isle beach area. However, I travel there almost every weekend and would certainly be able to bring the pups back for somebody to have a look
PS - These pups are about 5 weeks old and will not be going home until they are at least 7 weeks old. Also, my grandparents will not issue the papers until the buyer provides proof that they have gotten them their last set of shots. The reason being is because we like to check up on the pups condition a month or two after they are sold (via phone call) to make sure they are okay and one time a woman said the pup died of parvo, which if she had gotten the shots, would have saved the dog.1/26/2009 3:43:42 PM |
