I am selling my 2 year old female pure bred golden retriever, her name is Dapsy. She is medium sized at around 60 pounds and is healthy, happy, and friendly and has been under her own health insurance plan since being a puppy. She had her last shots taken 2 weeks ago and my parents don't have time to take care of her so she doesn't get to go outside much and that is why we are giving her away for free unless someone is willing to bid on her.
We are available at our house near crabtree valley mall. You can mapquest it the address is 3638 Blue Ridge Rd. in Raleigh, NC 27612. You can visit her first and see what a great pet she really is. We are also available to visit Dapsy during her transition if you feel it is necessary.




We have 30 lbs of Beneficial adult food left and also there is a crate if you want it and 2 leashes. We also have a dish for dog food and a towel. We also have a metal piece that you can stick into the ground and tie a leash to it. We also have a large metal cage made of metal linked fence with a door that measures 10 ft. by 7ft which you can have also but you'll need to transport it or take it apart yourself.

She has not been trained yet and stays in the garage so you may need to keep your eyes on her but golden retrievers are well known for their intelligence.

2 year old non trained dog is not going to be easy to break from the bad habits. It's possible and most likely considering the breed but it will take a lot of work.

Well she is very obedient and knows not to use the bathroom in the house. When I brought her to my apartment she would go to the door most of the time she had to use the bathroom and sometimes had accidents. She is also very obedient so she will learn very quickly. Now she is tied up in the garage for most of the day and just can't wait to be somewhere where people will have more time to see her during the day. If you are interested just come over and meet her I'm sure you will fall in love right away and you will see how obedient and nice she is. She is very shy meeting new people but quickly grows accustomed to them. Also I'm not really looking for any bids I just put up FS just in case a lot of people were interested but in actuality this dog is going to be free and is a great deal considering all the stuff you can take with her. She hasn't used the bathroom in the house for at least a good year now and only chews stuff up when we allow her to sleep in the house but just a few hits on the ass and she will learn whats right and wrong.

Yes she knows how to sit. She also uses the bathroom when we tell her to on the newspaper. When she was living with me at the apartment she never chewed on anything because I kept her in my room. You should really come visit her. The way things are looking we might have to take her to the animal shelter unfortunately but she is not that badly trained.

As for the training Dapsy has been a garage dog for quite some time so she has never experienced household living. She is let out to play in the house for nearly an hour a day but other than that she doesn't do much but sit around. That is why the first time I brought her to my apartment she only chewed what I gave her to chew and she went to the door the majority of the times she had to use the bathroom. Other times she has accidents because she didn't wake me up in the morning and I was feeding her way too much at that time as well. I'm sure she will be fully trained in no time at all because she is very kind and obedient. She just wants to live in the house with someone. All you have to do is put some newspaper outside the house where you want her to use the bathroom and then she'll know to use the bathroom outside and then she goes to the door when she has to use the bathroom if you feed her normally. I was giving her my leftovers and letting her drink from the toilet whenever she wanted to so she peed a few times in the apartment but was usually able to hold her poop in for outside.

if no can adopt or foster her, I would suggest looking into a golden retriever rescue group before taking her to the humane society or county animal shelter. (neuse river golden retriever rescue is one) they are more likely to be able to find her a foster home and will probably find a home faster than the over-crowded shelter (especially since she is 2yrs and not a puppy, although super-cute!!). good luck to dapsy!

Why do people get pets when they can't commit to them? Seriously, you know giving this dog away for FREE because you're so desperate to get rid of her ASAP opens up a world of opportunity for her. Especially and including someone who will abuse her, neglect her, and most likely will not be able to afford feeding her, much less giving her proper care. Good job being an asshat. I am interested in meeting her. My mother has a golden and has been looking to rescue another. I have excellent vet references and have fostered for a few rescue groups in the area.
If my mother chooses not to adopt her, I have friends who work with the Neuse River Golden Rescue and I will work with them to find her a suitable home.

It's obvious the dog isn't getting the best care and they're trying to find it a better home. Just please be careful who you give it too (if it's too late for me to take her in). Free dogs are often picked up on impulse.

This is the exact dog I have been looking for - and I have been searching the golden retriever rescue through the last few weeks. My first choice was rescuing a dog through the spca or shelter of some sort.

Is she spayed? How attached is dapsy to your household? How is the shedding (every retriever is different)? How are dapsy's ears (clean?) and hips?

multiple people in here said they were interested in the dog...all the shelter is going to do is put a $400 tag on her head....and transition her to a really crappy place before someone forks over the money.

I offered my home - and I know someone else did - could you call the rescue and see if you can get her back?

^^ yea its unfortunate, we were going to see her with 90% chance of adopting on wed. and then got the call that she was being given to a neighbor, which we later found out she is going to a shelter. now she will cost $325 or more, which means we won't get her, not because its too much, but for that price we could get a new purebred golden puppy.

unfortunate turn of events i must say, if you can get her back we would love to adopt her. she would be best buds with our current golden, BrightEye.

The dog isn't in a shelter.
She's in a foster home where she is being properly taken care of, being taught house manners, exercised, and socialized with dogs and other animals. Her behavior problems and fears will be addressed.
She will be treated as a cherished pet, a part of the family until a suitable forever home is found. That's what foster homes are for.
