It's a good show, but I don't get the travel channel, so I don't get to watch it (or No Reservations) regularly.

overall I like the show. he can be a little smarmy sometimes.

all i can think about when i watch this show is how bad he must feel the next day after doing one of those challenges.

especially the one where he ate that super spicy rice noodle dish. i would've been crying on the toilet.

"A hot dogger proves he can still kick buns
Gabe Gigliotti returns to Raleigh to reclaim his title as champ

By Andrea Weigl - Staff Writer

Adam Richman's Roast Grill hot dog eating record did not last long.

Last night, if you tuned in, you saw Richman, star of the Travel Channel's "Man v. Food" show, eat 17 hot dogs in about 30 minutes, breaking the previous record set by Gabe Gigliotti on Aug. 14, 2008. On that day, Gigliotti, 23, ate 16 hot dogs in 50 minutes.

In early February, Richman and a film crew spent about a week in the Triangle shooting at The Roast Grill and The Pit in Raleigh and Time Out in Chapel Hill.

Two weeks ago, Gigliotti returned to reclaim his title. He didn't think some actor paid to perform food stunts on television should be able to lay claim to that record. To Gigliotti, it should be held by a regular who knows the owner, George Poniros. His grandparents opened the hole-in-the-wall hot dog shop in 1940.

The Roast Grill is a Raleigh institution known for its burnt dogs and refusal to serve ketchup. Mustard, chili, slaw and onions are the only toppings. Plus, they serve some of the best homemade baklava in the Triangle.

Gigliotti discovered The Roast Grill while interning last year at N.C. State University's ticket office. His boss took him there for lunch. He returned almost every Friday during his stay. "It's the best place to get a hot dog," Gigliotti said.

And so, on March 6, Gigliotti drove down from his home in Wilmington, Del., to beat Richman's record. To prepare, he went to a hot dog place the week before and ate six hot dogs in four minutes.

Surrounded by nine guys in their 20s, Gigliotti sat at the Roast Grill's Formica counter, devouring hot dogs. He ate at a fairly fast clip, consuming the first 15 in about 15 minutes.

With No. 16, he started to slow down. He stood and rubbed his belly between bites. He took long sips from a bottle of Le Bleu water.

The crowd cheered him on, shouting "Expand that gut!" and "Here we go!"

Two bites into No. 17, Gigliotti quipped, "Can I get my own TV show after this?"

With the last bite of No. 17, Gigliotti slapped the counter and shouted: "Tie game!"

No. 18 went down one laborious bite at a time. In the end, Gigliotti regained the record by eating 18 hot dogs in 23 minutes.

So how did this compare to last time?

"I don't feel nearly as sick," Gigliotti said.

lolol...when I'm trying to explain where it is to people, I just say "the place across the street from the gay bar Flex with the "Hot Weiners" sign outside"

I went there for lunch last Wednesday. 2 hot dogs with chili and onions and a glass bottle coke for $5.50

I've been to The Pit like 6 or 7 times since it opened and haven't had anything that I didn't like. the banana pudding is

I watched 2 episodes last night. In the first he ate a really hot burger that contained the hottest peppers in the world, the bhut jolokia. Only 4 other people had completed that one. He gets mad respect for that.
In the second I watched, he ate a 72 oz. steak... in 29 minutes.

Adam's new show got "suspended indefinitely" because somebody accused him of fat shaming on Instagram for using #thinspiration and he told them to get fucked and commit suicide. He's lost 70 pounds. He apologized and all, but yea.

Silly reality tv.

Pretty soon they'll have a tv show like this where the finale of the show will be the host taking a giant painful shit, from multiple camera angles. possibly in a disgusting restaurant bathroom.
