So I know most of you fags only play Halo or god forbid Smash bros., but I come to you for help anyway.
I've been talking with the management at 5 0'clock sports bar on Hillsborough and they think it would be cool if I set up a classic video game night on wednesdays. So far I've got an nes, snes, genesis, saturn, dreamcast, psx.
So, what other systems and games do I need to make it work? 2/3/2009 7:37:30 PM |

I'm sorry my terminology must be out of date, I thought that's how people greeted each other around here. 2/3/2009 7:44:43 PM |

I'm currently looking for a master system and god knows I won't be able to find a cheap neo geo system. I also want to pick up a Turbo-grafx. 2/3/2009 7:46:14 PM |

You're thinking of 4chan. TWW is not made of basement monkeys with no social skills... though there are a few that roam around here. 2/3/2009 7:46:17 PM |

Ah, I see, well excuse me then.
But still good calls on the systems so far, any ideas about games you'd love to play again? 2/3/2009 7:49:58 PM |

Mario Bros.
The original, with the kickass multiplayer.
Also pretty much an actual arcade games you can get your hands on. 2/3/2009 7:54:12 PM |

Yeah 5-0 had some playable arcade games in the back for a while, but then they traded them in for a golden tee and a superstrike game.
Which isn't bad considering that they're a sports bar first and foremost, but if this weekly game night picks up I'll at least try to get a multicade or namco classics cabinent, or something.

I've got a Neo Geo MVS arcade cabinet, and I've been trying with several places over the past few years to let me bring it in so that I could have a right proper Samurai Shodown 3 (or 4) tournament. First year I taught middle and high school, I got permission to bring my machine to the school fall festival where I set up a "Beat the Teacher" booth and offered $25 gift cards to anyone would could defeat me. (Two students actually did, which was exciting for everyone.) I made more money for the school than any other booth that year.2/3/2009 8:30:39 PM |

^^ agreed. if youre talking about vintage/classic, the absolute upper limit i'd think about is the SNES/Genesis era. 2/3/2009 8:42:32 PM |

Are you looking only for vs. multiplayer games? If not, Bubble Bobble and Double Dragon on the NES are awesome games. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! isn't multiplayer but is good for a large crowd to watch, I think it would be fun to play that on a big screen.
Street Fighter 2 on the SNES is a must.
Maybe Mortal Kombat on the Genesis (the SNES version doesn't have blood).
If you are just doing a "compete for high score" thing, I'd recommend Pitfall on the Atari 2600. 2/3/2009 11:37:36 PM |

^ i thought both MK's had no blood unless you typed in the blood code (ABACABB on genesis). 2/3/2009 11:44:45 PM |
