What sucks about Blackberry/iPhone/etc is the 100+ dollar a month phone bill.Seriously, it's a phone. A fucking phone.And sure, it'd be nice to have if you're a working professional, but...college kids? the unemployed/barely employed?nice.
2/5/2009 6:49:51 PM

^^^my smartphone plan is only $20 more than what it would be as a regular phone plan...
2/5/2009 7:19:47 PM
I fucking do not like my Blackberry Pearl. I hate having to pull the battery out every so often. And I hate the damn Verizon blackberry mandatory data package.BTW, for those of you not in the know, Verizon offers two data packages for the damn thing. Something they don't make obvious when you get the phone. They automatically put the Enterprise package on it, which is just fine if you have to sync with outlook, etc. But it's 45 clams. What they don't tell you (on purpose I bet) is that you can get the regular plan for 30 a month.I fucking hate RIM and I fucking hate blackberry. I just want a regular phone.
2/5/2009 7:20:41 PM

I can't wait to upgrade my phone in the next couple of weeks (cross your fingers).I gotta decide what model of the blackberry I want now.[Edited on February 6, 2009 at 10:43 AM. Reason : I have the pearl]
2/6/2009 10:43:29 AM
hmm...storm that is buggy with a new OS being released March 17th or samsung omnia with wifi and fm radio(but windows mobile)...ugh...tough decisions.
2/6/2009 10:45:47 AM
^my new storm isn't bad.. i've had it about 3 weeks and so far haven't had any major issues.. i did get 1 reset last week. it went through the hourglass thing and took a few minutes to reboot, but so far it's only happened once (crosses fingers) and i noticed some lag in typing while on the internet the other day, but that went away after a few minutes and has been good since.i guess im lucky so far, but i expect some problems to pop up eventually.
2/6/2009 10:48:46 AM
^^^^ pretty sure it has "fallen" out a few times though
2/6/2009 11:05:45 AM
My 8830 has been near-flawless in over a year of having it. I think I've had to pull the battery on it once, and basically nothing else fucks up. Compared to my windows mobile Touch Pro, which is constantly having to be rebooted/fiddled with. That having been said, I would not want the BB as my only/primary phone (it's my work phone and is owned/paid for by my employer). Yes, it's rock solid and stable, but the interface is odd, the web browser is execrable, no GPS, no camera (yes I know that's intentional) and few to no apps you can add. Plus, either the internal antenna is weak or Verizon's coverage sucks, as I get crappy call quality in several important places (like my house, my office...) The Touch Pro is finicky but overall I much prefer it. Opera Mobile is a beautiful thing...(yes we all know the iPhone is superior blah blah blah I can't get one b/c I cannot get any kind of AT&T coverage in my place, it's in a dead spot for them...plus you can't beat SERO pricing)
2/6/2009 11:05:58 AM
Oh I have to have one with a camera....which is why I ousted the 8830 from my list earlier this morning.I have an awesome GPS program thru sprint, so I'll be good no matter what model phone I get. I just wish they carried the Bold
2/6/2009 11:10:49 AM
blueberrys are the shit. its the only phone ive punted, and still worked
2/6/2009 11:14:27 AM
love my blackberry curve...never have had any problemswho do yaw have for service?i have verizon
2/6/2009 11:14:48 AM
I have Sprintalso I just BTTT the BB Messenger thread
2/6/2009 11:17:59 AM
alltel and the only service issue I have is that I don't get service in william's hall. I broke the usb pin on my curve though, so it takes some wiggling around to get it to charge. I'm thinking of getting a new one due to that.I guess I'll get another 8330, as I don't see any better options (I want something new dammit)The storm is ok; only a few issues - I guess I'm still under Alltel, thus no Storm, from what I know, verizon/the storm doesn't have 3G, and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't let me upgrade on an insurance claim (alltel used to, but not recently ) [Edited on February 6, 2009 at 11:35 AM. Reason : .]
2/6/2009 11:35:31 AM
Alltel and Verizon merged so you should see the storm soon. My roommate has that phone and I hate it. If I am going to get a touch screen it would be the I phone. Crackberry 8330 FTW!
2/7/2009 3:51:42 AM
2/7/2009 6:26:44 AM
My roommate has the omnia and it seems to have lots of quirks. He loves it sometimes and hates it others. How much is the difference in price for you between the storm and the touch pro?
2/7/2009 7:48:55 PM
the alltel HTC touch pro is $199 online after $100 mail-in rebate which is the same as the storm and omnia.
2/7/2009 7:54:50 PM
usually taking out the battery for 5 min will fix it, there are some software updates, tech support downloaded them to mine while i was on the phone with them
2/7/2009 8:04:39 PM
Blackberry Storm ftw. 625Mhz processor, nice and fast, gps, browser, good camera, GREAT screen, lots of apps, expandable memory up to 16GB, playing video looks amazing.
