Side note:
Why is there so much inconsistency with the use of the words "assault" and "battery"?
Assault is just when you threaten or attempt to inflict bodily injury or other form of battery.
Battery is when you actually make non-consensual contact, regardless of injury.
Right?

Are there jurisdictions where assault = battery?.... if so, why?

i have been battered technically, i guess. some guy grabbed me hard on the arm and yelled at me. i didn't press charges. or maybe it was assault. or both. i don't really remember. i know there was "assault on a female." the police picked him up after the incident but i didn't press charges because i didn't think he should go to jail over it (at the time, but then looking back, he was insane so maybe he should). but it scared the shit out of me.

and guess where it was? on nc state's campus. people are so friendly there!

but yea assault and battery are broad terms. although with battery you're supposed to have an "imminent threat" of serious bodily harm so like, phone calls even if they are really scary and vulgar usually don't count. i don't know, you can argue those terms to encompass like everything i feel like. i mean didn't that hamburger smashing boyfriend get charged with battery?

1) When someone is charged with a crime, these people immediately begin referring to them as guilty.
2) When you point out: "innocent until proven guilty", these people accuse you of defending the alleged act.
3) If the suspect is convicted, these people then say "See, we told you.", as if they could know.
