2/14/2009 5:41:52 PM
Do you ever feel like you are going to get kidnapped down there?
2/14/2009 5:44:28 PM
They love Obama. They banned the movie Turistas They play The Simpsons a lot but not the episode The Simpsons go to Brazil. 2 out of 3 stores are women's clothing.Stay out of favelas and you won't get stabbed/shot/kidnapped/whatever else you hear about Brazil. I pretend the favelas are like a version of MLK Jr Dr. with no cars and no government assistance. And they seem to drive more american cars than americans..(cars not SUVs)[Edited on February 14, 2009 at 7:05 PM. Reason : I will leave the pics to Cheez :p]
2/14/2009 7:04:30 PM
btttThis thread comfirms my suspicions noone gives a shit about Brazil... good less ugly gringos on the beach.
3/4/2009 5:08:49 PM
i care...pls tell me more about these favelas
3/4/2009 5:21:56 PM
Favelas are not classified as favelas by the way they look but some other criteria I do not know. I went to a smaller city and stayed in what I considered a favela-looking neighborhood but noone else called it that and I didn't see anything remotely dangerous. I think a favela is called a favela because of the amount of dangerous people with guns and drugs in it not because it looks crappy like most americans think.of course I am not saying you can have a multimillion dollar nice apartment complex as a favela.. just that not all crappy looking places are favelas where you will be shot/stabbed/kidnapped/killed.[Edited on March 4, 2009 at 5:45 PM. 3/4/2009 5:39:54 PM
have you taken in a soccer game?
3/4/2009 5:44:40 PM
not yet, but it is on the to-do list.I did go to the big carnaval parade. Most brazilians i have met think it is boring... it wasn't boring for me.
3/4/2009 5:51:00 PM
I have heard that Brazilian woman have massive yet magnificent assesany truth to this?
3/4/2009 7:17:41 PM
^ that's true. and i ain't talking about the black ones.ok, this thread was a [fail]. bastard tricked us into asking stuff, and he answered only once, the same day he made the thread. nothing after that.
3/4/2009 7:40:56 PM
He's probably been stuffed in a trunk
3/4/2009 7:54:40 PM
haha you act like they have trunks big enough to stuff bodies in... now in a van. maybe And yes most brazilian women have nice asses and they do have some procedures I have seen on TV they use for the ass. Also samba works out the torso and ass like crazy. Also there is no real line between black and white...everyone is mixed [Edited on March 5, 2009 at 6:22 AM. 3/5/2009 6:09:24 AM
Brad, I officially need to come see you now. I will tell Jess it is a business trip
3/5/2009 8:15:18 AM
3/5/2009 12:09:19 PM
A. I am in Rio de Janeiro so there are higher percentage of Cariocas and tan white/latin people.B. They have different qualifications/perception of race here.C. There are probably a shit ton of white people in Sao Paulo and to the south. D. I also meant mixed not really as race but more of culture, Italian grandmother and German grandfather and Swiss mother...still all white but not all white people are alike [Edited on March 5, 2009 at 1:44 PM. Reason : ^^ yea.... business.... that's sure to work. ]
3/5/2009 1:27:14 PM
how safe is it?would you suggest visiting it?
3/5/2009 1:59:06 PM
yea, it is pretty safe in non-favela areas, I think now brazilians are overcompensating from all the bad press brazil gets over the world. People will tell me that a certain place is very dangerous and I will go there with some brazilian friends and there will be nonhomeless looking families walking around with small children and people just selling stuff... So far I have just used common sense, haven't worn flashy cloths, jewelry, or electronics to any questionable places, and always hung out with brazilians.I would suggest visiting along the southeast coast(Rio for standard tourist, Salvador and some other smaller beach cities for more adventurous tourist), most brazilians are friendly and helpful. The Amazon is very expensive and I would be worried more about animals than people there. [Edited on March 5, 2009 at 2:27 PM. Reason : was told today after living/walking in Copa for 4 weeks that Copacabana is very dangerous.. ]
3/5/2009 2:23:55 PM
i can tell you with a high level of certainty that i am jealous of your life mr steve.tell me more about this exotic land. Por ejemplo, what are you doing there? And how can the place where music and passion are always in fashion be dangerous?[Edited on March 5, 2009 at 2:29 PM. Reason : adsf]
3/5/2009 2:29:04 PM
I am studying a mechanical engineering class and other humanity reqs at UFRJ, a federal university in Rio.. kinda boring stuff but it is a light class load so more time for the beach. I went through the Study Abroad Office and since few engineers want to study abroad much less in Brazil I got the pick of which city I got in Brazil so I picked Rio of course. The classes are taught in Portuguese but luckily math is math, equations are equations, most college age kids know decent english and science uses big words that don't need much translation. If you do everything I suggest the only real danger is calling futebol, soccer to a big futebol fan.
3/5/2009 2:43:29 PM
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO POST ANOTHER JOKE IN YOUR JOKE OF THE DAY THREAD YOU FUCKING FAGGOT PIECE OF SHIT
3/5/2009 2:49:54 PM
that's pretty cool that you are doing that.have you been down to Ipanema? Sounds pretty nice. Are there a lot of Americans there? Do many Americans retire there so far as you can tell?thanks
3/5/2009 2:52:05 PM
IMO Ipanema > Copacabana but people have differing opinions. Not many americans I see mainly europeans and brazilians from other parts of brazil. Well I don't know about many americans retireing here but it would be alright retireing here if you could find/afford an apartment for cheap to buy and not in a bad area. Since it is a big city everything is more expensive and a fixed income, even in dollars, you might not be living as large as you would think. If you mean Brazil in general it would depend on the region and how good the dollar is doing.[Edited on March 5, 2009 at 3:07 PM. Reason : .]
