Normally I post bike crap in the Garage, but this is a rant.

So who are all the fuckers parking their motorcycles on the bricks beside the bicycle racks behind EB2? I know it's sometimes a LITTLE hard finding a parking spot in the deck right across the fucking street (and by hard I mean there was easily 3-5 free spots on G,1 and 2 that I saw from driving down from 2), but not that tough. Do all you lazy fucks have to crowd the pedestrian zone when its a 2min walk across the street? And of course transportation won't do shit because their dumb asses can't tell the difference between a Ducati and a scooter. I see the same dumbass blue ducati owner parking there almost 3 times a week. What if I parked my fucking toyota on the bricks? It'd be towed before I even got to the doors. Thankfully the rest of the bike owners actually use the parking spots in the deck like I do. Fucking twats making the rest of the riders look like assholes.

I've had bikes knocked over, vandalized and otherwise fucked with so many times that I have a hard time blaming people that try to park in a visible, well trafficked area.

Actually I did call transportation and ask them if they were allowing parking there. You can guess what they said. If I had found one of them with the bike, I would have said something. Its not like I actually expect the wolf web to solve this problem. And, call the cops? Are you kidding? They don't give a shit about parking unless you overturned a dump truck on cates avenue.

I highly doubt people steal bikes from the deck. Unless you are very handy with a flathead, most bike thefts are people lifting them into the back of a truck. Thats not something that happens at rush hour at one of the busiest parking decks on campus.

Bikes get vandalized in the eb2 deck at 9am? There were over 7 bikes parked there this morning just in the bottom deck and the sheer flux of people on bikes and cars make theft or vandalizing(-ation?) very unlikely. I've been parking there for weeks now with absolutely no issue. No one's even parked too close. The spaces aren't even that close to the car spaces so the risk of one knocking it over is minimal.

And if you are really that worried about vandalism on campus, use a cover, or drive your car.

Why do you care if they park at the bike rack?

technically its dangerous for any pedestrians, but really its just insulting. Its essentially as if people were parking their cars on the brickyard without a permit (pretend that the flimsy poles aren't there). for everyone who has gone and gotten the proper permit and parks in the designated spots, there are some others who get to park wherever they want with seeming impunity. if all of the motorcyclists did that, the entire brick area behind eb2 would be filled in the mornings.

and yes, I am just bitching. half of it is the lazy-ass transportation that doesn't bother enforcing its own rules. but its not so annoying that im going to go write notes and be completely passive-aggressive about it, just enough that i'll add to the already mountain of noise that is chit-chat.
