"WRAL child star brings Hollywood shine to Triangle

Raleigh, N.C. — This weekend, a Hollywood actor has returned to screen his latest film in Raleigh, his hometown where he got his start starring in a children's show produced by WRAL-TV in the 1980s.

Kent Faulcon – now the producer, director and star of the movie "Sister's Keeper" – first exercised his acting chops as Nate, a character on "Sparks," a half-hour fantasy children's show.

Faulcon remembers rushing from Enloe High School to the WRAL-TV studios to work on the show.

"When I started, I was a freshman and I couldn't drive. I'd take the CAT bus and get off at Avent Ferry and walk in," he said. "I'd do homework for about a half an hour, and then we'd get a script."

That work, Faulcon said, prepared him for his subsequent Hollywood career – roles in CBS shows, including "NCIS" and "Criminal Minds," and movies, including the Will Smith blockbuster "Men in Black."

"It gave me an education on how to deal with people, recognizing that people are just people. Maybe their job gives them more visibility, but at the end of the day, they're just another person," he said.

Faulcon returned to his hometown this weekend as part of worldwide tour of his action-drama "Sister's Keeper." The film has been screened in London, Los Angeles, New York City, Atlanta and Houston.

"To come home and I've receive so much support, (to see) people so excited to see you, it's been – I can't even put it into words," Faulcon said.

In the movie, Faulcon plays assassin Jacob Tate.

"It's about a hit man at a crossroads of conscience, and his last job is to go to this small town and kill this small-town elementary school teacher," he said.

Faulcon will attend two screenings of "Sister's Keeper" at The Galaxy Theater, 770 Cary Towne Blvd. in Cary, at 7:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Saturday. The movie will be released on DVD later this year."
