Didn't see a thread on this movie yet. Hopefully it doesn't suck. I loved the Street Fighter games back in the day, along with the Mortal Kombat games. I thought the original MK movie was worlds better than the SF movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme. There's actually a connection between the MK movie and this SF movie. Rick Yune who played the bad asian guy in The Fast & The Furious was originally cast to play Gen, but was replaced by Robin Shou, who played Liu Kang in the original MK movie. The film is scheduled for release in February 27, 2009.

It may turn out to be decent. I say that on the basis of max payne. Everyone said it was horrible but upon review it was nothing of the sort. Some folks just have weird expectations. If a video game movie is as good as the first mk movie than it has my approval.

Just came back from the movie, it sucked pretty hard. Bugged me that Byson had an Irish accent since he grew up on the streets of Bangkok. Sure his parents were Irish missionaries, but they died when he was a baby. Is an Irish accent inherited, like hair color or something? Some favorite lines:

seriously, before you write this one off, read the aintitcool review referenced above. It's the funniest thing I've read in year. It will make you want to see this movie. I haven't for the record, never wanted to, but now I'm having second thoughts. This sounds "Ecks vs Sever" bad.

I did read the aintitcool review. However, in spite of both that and the chance to gawk at Kreuk's thights for a couple of hours, I am forced to conclude that I still have no interest in viewing this failure of a failure.
