Tell him to stop claiming you as a dependent. Does he have any legal reason to do so? Are you living at home, are you on his insurance, etc. If the answer is no then tell dad to quit screwing you out of needed financial aid.

i totally got fucked on this whole dependent filing on the FAFSA while I was in school too. My EFC was 40k a year, but I was like you and paid for all my own shit and didn't live in the house. However, my dad wanted to claim me for his tax credit.

Now my student loan interest rates are 12% because I had to take out privates in order to pay for tuition. Thanks mom and dad.
