Quote :
"Che (2008) is a two-part biopic about Marxist revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Benicio del Toro as Che. The cinematic diptych comprises two merged films entitled The Argentine and Guerrilla. The Argentine focuses on the Cuban revolution, from the moment Fidel Castro, Guevara and other revolutionaries landed on the Caribbean island, until they toppled the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista two years later. Guerilla, meanwhile, focuses on Che's attempted revolution and eventual demise in Bolivia."

Looks like we will be getting part one at Galaxy Cinema on March 13th and part two on March 20th. I'll update when I know more details.

Hey, are you one of those people who troll message boards?

Seriously, you posted two different quotes trying to illicit a response.

Obviously, he was making the point that certain segments of the population have made Che into a pseudo rock star. The man was a brutal killer, but who killed in the name of "The People," so I guess that makes it okay. Think about the families of the people he killed and terrorized all in the name of an ideology. He isn't a controversial figure any more than Mao or Stalin is. He is simply a bloody murdered who killed for power.

The only people I've encountered who admire him in any way are either 1) ignorant people who wouldn't know Marx if he bit them in the ass and probably think Tupac was one of the top figures of the 20th century or 2) people like those guys who used to protest the ROTC on campus. The whole "liberals love Che" thing is ridiculously overblown, imo.

He is, however, an intriguing individual with a long, compelling story, much like Caligula or Hitler or Thomas Jefferson.

Steven Soderbergh is one of my favorite directors and del Toro one of my favorite actors so whatever the treatment of this guy (who is highly overrated in his effect on world history), it will likely be a good movie imo.

not quite that extreme but yes, he was pretty fucking brutal. he got killed in Bolivia trying to incite more 'revolution'

[quote]Both notorious as a ruthless disciplinarian who unhesitatingly shot defectors and revered by supporters for his rigid dedication to professed doctrines, Guevara remains a controversial and significant historical figure. As a result of his perceived martyrdom, poetic invocations for class struggle, and desire to create the consciousness of a "new man" driven by "moral" rather than "material" incentives,[6]

unless you know, you didn't agree with him, then he shot you.
