I'm having a helluva time getting a power steering high pressure line installed on my 90 Cherokee, 4.0.
Just cant get the angle right to get the damn threads started. I feel like a complete retard, but am honestly just tired of messing with it.
Anyone wanna make some cash? 2/21/2009 12:48:25 PM |

try to line it up close, then push the fitting in, turn it backwards until it just clicks past the first thread, then tighten it up 2/21/2009 1:16:56 PM |

^yep. that little turn backwards will generally line up any threads and save you the hassle of multiple attempts to avoid cross threading.
try hitting up zxappeal, he lives right down the road from briar creek. 2/21/2009 1:38:19 PM |

check the start of the thread on the fitting, if it is flattened, you may need to dress it with a file to get it to start 2/21/2009 1:55:11 PM |

I finally got it. Yalls trick definitely helped.
NOW it's whining like a sumbitch though. I need to flush the power steering fluid cause it's literally milky white.

it has air in it
jack up the front end and steer lock to lock with the engine off and top it up
then run it and do the same, its gonna take a while to get all the air out 2/21/2009 3:48:59 PM |

Yeah, I decided just to drive it a bunch today and try and get all the air out. It definitely got a lot quieter and is pretty much fine now.
Also cherrybombed the exhaust today 2/22/2009 12:14:54 AM |
