I watched his first movie, diary of a mad black woman.

I was expecting a comedy, but it was all about this guy beating his wife, then he becomes paralyzed and his wife starts beating him. Way too much drama. There were like 5 laughs the whole movie.

^^I did some reading about it.

The show hasn't had very good ratings. But it hasn't been cancelled because TBS paid 200 million dollars to Tyler Perry for an order of 100 episodes in one fell swoop. The show sucks because it sucks, but also because they made 80 episodes in two years--not enough time to make quality programming of any kind.

So that's why the show is still running, and that's why Tyler Perry acts like he's super successful (apparently, he is--200 million dollars ).
