I have never owned a HD camcorder so I can't really make a good judgment whereas is this a 'get what you pay for' type thing, or is it a real deal?

did i miss something or does it really have no internal storage or support for removable storage - it has a battery which makes me think it doesn't have to be tethered to work...

It says its a card reader, so I assume SD cards?

I got a nicer one for $130 from amazon and have been pleased with everything but the firmware. For some reason still images are disabled.

depending on what type of video you are going to shoot, this may be disappointing. camera this light without image stabilization may produce wither barely watchable or unwatchable video due to shaking (depending on angle of view of that fixed lens ). I have an Sanyo HD2 that is a lot heavier (and thus stable) than any of the cams above, and unless it is mounted on a tripod, which comletely defeats the purpose of a pocket camera, digital image stabilization just does not cut it. 38mm equivalent is as wide as internal lens goes, and even with external wide-angle adaptor it looks a bit more smooth, but still not acceptable for my purposes.

i guess what im saying make sure you wither see the actual camara footage from conditions you are likely to film in, or make sure you get it from a store with a good return policy.
