And I caught a few words and phrases here and there, and I get this junk email from some turkish fuck earlier trying to get money on some nigerian shit

he has a .php site linked in the email and the body is roughly the equivalent of "there is a problem with your bank account, please confirm the following information" and then it asks for some personal info...anyway heres my reply, i think its worth a chit chat thread, even if it gets zero replies

(btw, this reply im posting is in english, but i actually used a website to do a crude turkish translation, so he will see it like this

Hello kanka (turkish for friend). Please send further stupid hacker spam emails in Turkish to other Turkish addresses...you might actually sucker some stupid idiot into giving you their life savings...I'm about to add your email address to my blocked senders list because my users can't even laugh at your unsophisticated and literally retarded phishing attempts since you are sending them in Turkish to an American English email domain...eat a goat's penis and die, meanwhile i'll eat you on thanksgiving you stupid greek (turks hate greeks)...Then I'll defecate on the face of your grandmother...Please enjoy your day.

was that too harsh? should i worry about international mail bombs?

I don't like Turks, on the basis of two things:

1. They massacred over a million Armenians in the years leading up to WW I.

2. I was present when this Turkish dude spent ten minutes convincing this girl that he was actually a Turkish prince. As soon as he had her convinced, he laughed in her face and said "My God, Americans are so gullible."

genocide sorta transcends assholeness, for me

calling Hitler an asshole is like saying that getting AIDS is annoying

I am with you on that. But, if you include those that have committed genocide and massacres indirectly by using pawns and proxies, then that includes the US as well. I take it you don't hate Americans...?

Turkish for friend is "arkadas" (s has the sh sound). Another word is "dost".

There is no such thing as "kanka" in Turkish, and even if there is, it has nothing to do with 'friend'.

EDIT: That 's' in arkadas is supposed to have a comma type mark under it. I copy pasted the letter from MS Word, and it showed when I pasted, but it doesn't show in the post after posting.

yeah, in fact, AIDS is super-annoying even if you don't have it...it forces one to wear a condom, and there are few things more annoying than that

^^
I wouldn't call the man an asshole...evil, yes. asshole, no. but maybe our definitions of "asshole" differ

^
when I say "genocide," I mean the deliberate and systematic murder of large numbers of persons who belong to a single ethnic group. I'm not sure what you're referring to as far as the U.S. goes, but methinks that even if the U.S. has in some way supported genocide (which is not the same as pursuing it as a policy of the state and instructing one's own soldiers to carry it out) our total death toll has not come anywhere near 1,000,000.

Err, whoa guy. Don't say anything you can't back up.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnam_War_casualties

We've done some fucked up shit. Doesn't mean we, as a people, can't criticize other governments for intentionally committing genocide for the sake of ethnic cleansing. While the Vietnam was wasn't a case of wholesale slaughter as part of an ethnic cleansing scheme, it was much closer to "total war" than the Iraq war or the war in Afghanistan have been. We carpet bombed North Vietnamese indiscriminately, and had even considered bombing a system of dikes and dams in the north of the country that was responsible for providing much of the water "infrastructure" that kept people from being flooded/starved out of existence.

This doesn't even begin to branch into the other covert activities and political ties our government has carried out through overt political connections or through CIA activities that led to the oppression and slaughter (that's a bit too strong a word) of political dissidents and civilians. Two examples I can think of off the top of my head:

So? You gonna compare numbers and say stuff like "hey I only killed 5 people, so I am not as bad as so and so who killed 10 people"? That's sick.

But hey, you don't even have to play that game, because the numbers (from supported genocide and large-scale massacres) go into the several millions.

Yes, I AM going to claim that killing 5 people is not as bad as killing 10 people. This seems pretty reasonable to me.

Okay, maybe we HAVE been responsible for the deaths of several million civilians, but we have never actively and cold-bloodedly tried to wipe out an entire population. And I repeat, doing stuff on the downlow which leads to slaughter is not as bad as doing the slaughtering oneself as an overt policy of the state. And we've never done anything comparable with the deliberate murder of 1 million Armenian civilians. Most powerful governments have done some fucked-up shit, but very few have done anything as bad as that.

I don't see the difference.

Person A: I am going to kill all people of type so and so.

Person B to Person A: I am going to put you in power and give you money and weapons to enable you to kill all people of type so and so.

It is all the same to me.

if person A knows perfectly well that person B is going to commit genocide, then yeah, it's pretty close to just as bad.

but I'd like to hear examples.
