So, I'm totally going on talking points here, I'll admit it.

But, didn't Obama promise a tax-cut for all households making less than 250k? And didn't he say the porkulous-bill was the tax-cut? I thought that capped it at 75k?

Oh, and what about his carbon-tax. And his per-mile tax? Isn't that, you know, a tax increase? Time for America to wake-the-fuck-up. Obama lied about his "tax cuts"

I thought it was common fact that all candidates make promises during their campaigns to which they do not keep or break.

I do not feel like digging for it but i remember watching a whole 10 min segment where bush made comments on the campaign trail than did the opposite in office.

it's pretty well known that when politicians from all parties talk about "tax cuts", the one they are talking about and the one people understand they're talking about is the income tax that comes out of your paycheck every week.

So, no. It caps at $190,000 per household.

I guess it's time to get your talking points from somewhere else.

I think we should have two tax brackets.

One for people who work and one for people who don't.

Splitting us all up into these separate brackets just keeps us all fighting with one another.

When we need to all get together and get to robbing those figuratively fat fuckers who sit on they asses all day, collecting on investments and shit.

I don't care where your money comes from--welfare or your great, great bootlegging granddaddy. If you ain't got a job, it's the same shit. Holding charity balls or selling drugs doesn't count as a job.

Shit, I'm bout to graduate. I don't wanna be working no job if other fuckers aren't gonna do their part to earn their own.

I'm a 100% ok with that. But only if you include welfare recipients into that same class of "people who don't work". Ok, I'm not ok with that, because what you call "not working" is completely subjective

Why would anyone ever invest if they are not going to be allowed to collect upon it?

BridgetSPK, your goal is not to level society, your goal appears to be to smash society and kill off half of us, impoverish the other half. Do I have it wrong?

AHAHA

I was being silly.

But, for real, I'm basically just trotting out my same tax plan that nobody takes seriously.

0% income tax.

100% estate tax.

WTF??

People who don't work don't pay income taxes.

Though if they have income via trusts, stocks, or investments this is called something magical: Capital Gains Tax. In fact if you work and make money from your investments, sale of property, etc you pay income tax and than capital gains tax though the later is taxed at a lower percent.

I'm familiar with the capital gains tax.

The people who work should pay a much lower capital gains tax than the people who don't.

I love it. The size of government would collapse to almost nothing, since most people would never pay your estate tax. Afterall, they would have every incentive to avoid it, even if it destroyed most of their estate doing it, and it is easy to avoid.

^^ not eveyone can be a doctor, engineer, etc and make middle to high wages. our society relies on people working on all levels including custodians, bus drivers, and other low-pay service jobs. a $500-1000 tax cut is going to go much further for these people than it would for someone that makes more than that off of interest from their savings account.

This is why you aren't a liberal... you don't think. The person described "diminishing marginal utility", a first day concept in the study of the field of economics. A tax cut is going to provide much more utility to people who have lower incomes, as they have considerably less disposable income (money left over after paying rent/bills).

And you would fail to a large extent. If you made it illegal for people to either transfer or sell property to potential inheritors, that will not stop them from liquidating their property and splurging it. Getting old? Best be safe, liquidate everything, rent a huge house for your children to move into, rent a big car (which one of your children starts driving to work) and take everyone on cruises to the caribbean every year. Sure, your prodigy would rather you help them buy a house, but that is illegal.

Are you suggesting prices in a free market do not change to reflect changing realities?

And to correct you, I want to get rid of the minimum wage because forcing people under penality of law to starve to death in the street is immoral.

apparently, the graph above doesn't mean a damn thing to you, does it? you know, since it was gleaned from his tax plan. Obama changed his story on fucking EVERYTHING. That's the whole point. Congratulations, though, on cherry-picking one sentence and not including the rest of his speeches where he claimed 250k and below would get a cut.

but, tell me. Do you not call a carbon tax a "tax increase?" Do you not call the tax-per-mile a tax increase? Is 13 dollars a fucking month really a tax cut? no. it's not. He LIED. but it;'s ok. You'll forgive him, just like the idiots in N. Korea and China forgive their dear leaders. In fact, I'm finding a TON of links about how he CHANGED his tax plan in around October. Kind of convenient, wouldn't you agree?

That graph doesn't really directly address the $250,000 cut-off, but it appears that Obama was LIEing about his promised $12 tax cut to that bracket?

You've yet to provide a quote of his promised $250k tax cut. I searched all three debate transcripts, and this is the only time he made a promise to $250k-ers

And ignoring all that, it's hilarious how nitpicky ya'll are having to be to pin anything on him. A slight change in the tax policy is now a LIE

proof that his threshold shrunk. ergo, it was, at one point, 250k. convenient lying. interesting, though, is the Biden blunder of 150k. Which is exactly what the threshold ended up really being, for a single person, at 75k.
