for real though its been quite a while since DC saw over an inch or two of accumulation :

Quote :
"Tonight: Snow. Low around 26. Blustery, with a north wind 11 to 14 mph increasing to between 21 and 24 mph. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible."

WRAL is saying 4-10" for some parts of the piedmont. I'm pretty close to the line between 4-10" and 3-6". So, I'm guess 2 inches, based on typically WRAL predictions!

As soon as I say that, it starts snowing!

its been raining here (SC) nearly nonstop since Friday with just a few short breaks...not complaining though, we could definitely use it.

edit:

0.8 inches friday
1.5 inches yesterday
and still raining good today.

friday and saturday were crucial though. 2.3 inches in the last 2 days of february considering that put our total up to 3.8 and the average is 4.24. Pretty big boost right at the end.

says we are supposed to get an inch of rain- i'm glad it is warm right now, cause that would be alot more snow that it will be rain

This is an average value though. Colder areas will have a lower number while warmer areas will have a higher number.

newest forecast discussion just came out...

we may not see much in the form of frozen precip during round one of the event...changeover to solid precip will occur later than thought...then round 2 overnight could give us 2-4 inches....
