So I've never actually bought a vehicle (ride my bike for the past few years) but I'm getting sick of riding in the rain (live in oregon). I'd like to get a cheap POS little truck to commute and take backpacking every once in a while, any recommendations? Im looking at 93 nissian pickups right now, but don't have any reason for doing that other than a friends recommendation. Not looking to spend more than 3k. Thanks 3/1/2009 10:23:33 PM |

Thanks for the replies, I'll definitely look into a toyota. Just curious, why not nissan? 3/1/2009 11:03:55 PM |

toyota. especially in oregon, there's always a lot of good deals to be had on 4x4's up there, better than around here. 3/3/2009 12:43:23 PM |

what in the hell are you talking about? there aren't any honda suv's that old, either. unless you want to count the crv which came in 96, but that's hardly worthy of being called an suv except by the technicality of the body shape.3/3/2009 1:29:46 PM |

well yes, i was thinking of the cr-v, since most people use 'suvs' (whether car-bodies or truck-bodied) for throwing the dog in the back, and perhaps a bit of gear, but not any real off-roading. 3/3/2009 1:43:16 PM |

Old Yotas are great, but their prices tend to be pretty high considering the age/mileage. There's really nothing wrong with an S-10 or Ranger if you can find one that has been taken care of. 3/3/2009 3:24:12 PM |

^^^ better/cheaper bet in that case would be one of those high-roof Civic wagons of 88-91? vintage 3/3/2009 3:32:35 PM |
