I know you can do it with gamecube games

but I downloaded Mario Kart 64 for the virtual console, and it's telling me I have to use the classic controller (which I do have, but I'd much rather play MK64 with the GC controller)

is there a way around this?

Today, I bought Mario Kart 64 for the Wii virtual console. I had my Gamecube controller ready, excited and everything. Then it told me to plug in the Classic Controller. FML.

Yes, you can use a GC controller for VC, just plug the controller in and press start.
