Southern Comfort.

It took me a while to commit to it. I always thought I could find something better out there. But, for me at least, there isn't anything better.

It is the opposite of sophisticated. There's nothing complex about its flavor--it's just plain sweet. Toss in some lime and you're good to go. I like to think about this beverage as an extension of my views and my values.

What it represents to me, the imagery I associate with it, are just as important as it how tastes. In fact, they are the same thing.

I just got back from a cruise and I tried to order a mint julep at one of the ship's bars...the numbnut bartender put limes and lime juice in it. I was forced to explain to him that a mint julep != a mojito with bourbon instead of rum.

In terms of things I can actually drink on a regular basis, plastic handle whiskey and coke. Or plastic handle rum and coke. Or plastic handle vodka and tonic with lime, if I'm feeling really frisky.

Yeah mint juleps are the shit, they have a good one at "The Pit" which is actually a phenomenal bbq restaurant on Davie st. where they pit roast whole pigs on hickory on site. nationally recongnized and everything, an old guy from Wilson founded it. Everyone should go check that place out and eat the bbq and have a julep
