and by that i mean, movies that were not a big main stream success, or just unknown, but are nonetheless incredibly badass...

The Last Boyscout- great badass action, great comedy- some of the best oneliners ever, it was somewhat mainstream, but i feel like incredibly underapreciated/unknown

Drive- Mark Dacascos (brotherhood of the wolf, the crow tv series) has some unbelievably awesome action sequences, and this is prematrix CG type stuff, very very fun film http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116147/

Savage- Olivier Gruner is a B-movie action superstar, and he unleashes a unique flying through the air caveman fighting style in this flick, if you can appreciate a good B-Action moive, this is a great find http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114339/

The Punisher- 1989 with Dolph Lundgren, its no bullshit, just kill the fuck out of everyone fun. I was fortunate enough to see the directors cut (which can be found on foreign dvds) at a film fest in Durham, its even more violent, and just a ton of fun.

What else have you got? I'd be very surprised, yet very happy if T-dub suggested something to me that i had never seen/heard of before

Falling Down.

It wasn't action packed, but the action in it was, as the OP says, "incredibly badass"

XXX

I don't watch a ton of action movies, but I will agree with Falling Down. I own it, and am surprised by the number of people who browse my dvd's and ask what it is.

i love the last boy scout, but unfortunately whenever it comes on its usually tnt or tbs, so the willis/wayans potty mouths are toned down. its actually kinda funny when tbs inserts its own words, like "rascal" for "asshole." i mean really?

I don't know if you can put in "The Professional" because it's one of those "cult classics"....so it is very appreciated, just not by a huge audience. Kinda like Boondock Saints (is there enough action in that??).

And I don't know if this will fit, but I like "The 13th Warrior."

13th warrior is definitely a guilty pleasure. "can you speak with picture. yes"

besides subtitles, Hard Boiled was alright. another good one would have to be black mask.

Shoot 'Em Up

Its popularity was very short lived, but its nothing but a 2 hour long gun fight, with a break for a sex scene in the middle. But then another gun fight starts up before they finish, so you have sex AND guns at the same time. Badass for sure.

King Arthur (2004)
It is refreshing to find that someone else has read history and sees the likelihood that King Arthur was actually Roman. Guinevere and Merlin as druids? Yes please!

Whoever wrote the script for the movie obviously never read Mort d'Artur, or chose to ignore the most widely accepted version of Arthur's story. And it pisses me off when a movie has a narrator speak in past tense and then fucking dies at the end. How can Lancelot be narrating a story that already happened if he's dead?

Excalibur, however, is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Any person who likes Equilibrium is not only devoid of taste, they are devoid of value as a human being. Seriously.
