under Sendek:Harden or Hodge

I say Harden, obviously he's only a sophomore but he's already a guy who can carry his team deep into a tournament(not that Hodge could not, but I think soph Harden is better than soph Hodge without a doubt). He's also a good scorer and a smart player. I do think Harden has a better team around him, Pendergraph is an absolute stud

Harden by far, this is insane. I love Hodge and all, but Harden is widely projected as the #2 overall pick in the upcoming draft...

If i had to choose who I had the bigger man-crush on, I'd choose Herb.

^ Whaaaa? Hodge never had great NBA potential.

Name 1 great player in the NBA with Hodge's physique.

He's a great college player through and through.

[Edited on March 13, 2009 at 10:03 PM. Reason : But in college he was great. I say in college Hodge was the better player]

the Nuggets' scouts must have thought he had great NBA potential, or they wouldn't have wasted the 20th pick on him

I'd really like to see Harden stay one more year but I know he won't, He'd be the front runner for NPOY if Griffin and Curry go pro this year.

20th pick isn't a "waste," and it certianly isn't an indicator of great NBA potential. 20th pick is where people get their future role players and eastern european prospects.

Almost all of the NBA's stars, and the vast majority of the NBA's starters, were lottery picks.

I had hope that Hodge would make it as a role player, maybe someday make it up to 6th man or spot starter, but I never had any illusions he would be a star. Harden has the potential to be a major star.

Other great college players that anyone with half a brain knew wouldn't amount to much in the NBA: JJ Reddick, Sean May, Adam Morrison, Sheldon Williams

Yeah I thought about him, but even that lanky bastard seemed more athletic than Hodge.

Hodge was a master of driving the lane against slow white forwards and getting fouled, and posting up and shooting over undersized college guards.

That game just doesn't translate to the NBA.

eh probably not. there would be the whole east coast bias thing working against him, and besides don't you know Lorenzo Brown is gonna come in and win NPOY next year after leading us to a #3 finish in the ACC, an ACCT Championship, and a narrow loss in the Elite Eight while averaging 23.4 ppg and 6.2 apg.

He would be dumb to stay honestly. This year isn't that strong in the NBA draft, he'll probably go 3rd, after Griffin and that Spanish guy that made pretty much all of Team USA his bitch as an 18 year old.

[Edited on March 13, 2009 at 11:38 PM. Reason : I don't see him ever going higher]

Yeah, that's him.

If he's not taken at least 2nd, someone's gonna kick themselves in the ass in the near future. Maybe he's not the next Chris Paul, but he'll be at least as good as Deron Williams IMO.

I'm just not a fan of taking a foreign player with a lottery pick, it seems like more times than not they don't pan out.

Huh, well it looks like all the mocks have Rubio going #2 next year (after Wall). I could have sworn I saw him on the 2009 mocks a few months back. Is he still too young?

Oh yeah, and back to the OP: Hodge's sophomore team was pretty good too. Powell really broke out late in the year.

[Edited on March 14, 2009 at 12:22 AM. Reason : I think we would have been ACC champs if Powell stayed ]

kevin durant is hodge + 2 inches. 2 inches is a lot in basketball, but i think it still holds water.

Rubio has some ridiculous contract buyout with his Spanish team and can't afford to leave unless it is lowered. He signed the contract a several years back, not thinking he'd be able to play in the NBA at 19.

the NBA sucks worse than hockey, baseball, or nascar.

anyone who disagrees with this is automatically wrong.

Hodge obviously had NBA potential because it was never a given that he would come back after his Junior year.
