i have a bottle of a multivitamin that is a couple years old and the expiration date is way up. do vitamins really "expire" or just become less effective?

probably an attempt to get you to throw them away and buy new ones

i obviously know the definition of expire...but i really doubt the seriousness of a vitamin expiring.
