Pre-2003 or whenever it was they started the new school schedule, how many classes did we have a day? Was it six or seven?

^ i never thought of it like that.

the best was PE. or art. or nutrition. hell yeah

and then senior year-flex period ( either come to school for second block or leave after third)

[Edited on March 15, 2009 at 11:44 PM. Reason : i of course chose the latter-out of school at 1:00 ftw]

It would have bored the crap out of me. I liked having a variety of classes in my schedule.

I never understood why people disliked block scheduling.

Only 4 classes per semester at a time. It was easy.

Some people like to be challenged. Even 6 (or 7, I can't remember anymore lol) classes at a time still wasn't enough sometimes. Depended on how good the teachers were really.

I know that Mount Tabor (This years 4A basketball champs) had 7 period days when I was there. All I cared about was work exp./co-op and a travel period to go to career center/eat lunch.

Yay for not going to school!

I had 39 periods per day, because I liked being challenged. Never mind that the classes were only a few minutes each, we still had enough time to get our homework assignments and that is all I really wanted anyway. I'm better than you since you were block scheduled.

For those of you with 6 periods a day did you all rotate any classes? We had block scheduling. So 8 classes a year. Seems a little unfair for some schools to be able to take 32 classes while others are only allowed 24.

by senior year we were ready to be out and only had 18 classes done.

i would hate to think of having 24 classes done and 8 more to go at this point.

and i agree

high school != hard/challenging

There is plenty of challenging coursework in high school.

Most kids choose not to challenge themselves, and it shows when they arrive at college barely able to write a quick essay.

this depends.we had AP courses (which i took 4)
and you could choose to take courses at the local community college if you wanted to (which i did not)

still highschool =/= challenging
for me at least
...schoolwork didn't really become that challenging until about halfway through my sophomore year at state.....then woaaaah

I graduated from Garner in 1998 and we had 6 classes a day, but some of the electives were twon hours, so you still went to class for 6 hours even if you only had 5 classes.

What school did you go to? I may be able to track it down for you, or at least something close.

The block is specifically designed to allow advanced students more opportunity to be challenged as well as allow underachieving students to have remediation and still graduate on time. 8 classes per year as opposed to 6.

If you are talking about the girl that can be seen somewhere in the below photo then yes. We weren't close friends, but we did have 6th period 10th grade World Civ history together. Her twin brother Robert was in 7th grade Exploring Technology with me and in 7th grade English with me.

I also know Corey Lyons (NCSU football 1998-2000) and Brandon Sanders (NCSU Football 2000-2003?). Former Xavier All American and current NBA star David West was in my class too, but we don't know each other.

Also, off campus lunch FTW. That shit was great.

I can't remember if we had 6 or 7 at Cary. Gamecat or Sayer my have a better recollection. Aside from going to Europe twice with the band I have tried purging my mind of high school.
