They have "only" been to the final four 3 times in the last 10 years. I used quotations because that is certainly an impressive resume on its own, but in response to your statement: you can certainly win an office pool without putting UNC in your final four every year...

That being said, I dont have them in mine this year. Will they probably get there? yes.

This can also be a "post your final four thread" until everything gets started

i got louisville, unc, memphis, duke --im an ACC homer and i think this might be the year that duke manages NOT to choke

im putting a lot of faith in syracuse to come out of the south

Seeing as Syracuse is the main team left I am rooting for and I never root for UNC I had to put a little faith in the orangemen to pull a big win out for me.

They have relatively low expectations for a Duke team in this tourney... not many picked them to the Final 4 at all.

Frankly, I think Texas might beat them in the 2nd round. I just don't like that matchup and the tourney is all about matchups...

that was my final four until i swapped uconn with mizzu at the last second before submitting. and yea syracuse has a track record of choking in this thing so we'll see. But I am hoping for a good performance from the orange this year.

Louisville, Uconn, NOVA, Oklahoma

In my mind, Uconn could very easily be Missouri, though. That was a tough bracket for me.

lots of people in my pool had Memphis making the Final Four and some making the final game, so I figured I might as well go against the grain

Ever year I play with certain rules on my bracket.
1.) Never pick Duke past Sweet 16.
2.) Never pick UConn to make a run.
3.) Never pick Louisville to make a run.
4.) Avoid hype of upsets before the tourney.

So, this year my rules are hurt because both UCon and Louisville are #1 seeds, haha. So I think everyone should be ready for UConn to mess up brackets, probably gonna lose in the 2nd round.

I have Memphis, Louisville, UNC, Duke.

Memphis beating UNC.. but that would be a hell of a final four matchup if Duke and UNC played.

edit: and I fully expect my bracket to be nuked

Memphis has only beat 1 out of the 3 decent teams they played this year. Just sayin. 2 if you count Tennessee.

My rules compared to the last 4 years:

2008:
Duke - 2nd round
UConn - 1st round
Louisville - Elite 8

2007:
Duke - 1st round
UConn - didn't make tourney
Louisville - 2nd round

2006:
Duke - Sweet 16
UConn - Elite 8
Louisville - didn't make the tournament

2005:
Duke - Sweeet 16
UConn - 2nd round
Louisville - Final 4

My rule would have hurt me 3 times out of 10, and Duke is pretty consistent overall. So that's 30% of the time my rule fails, or 70% of the time its right. Of course if you go back to 2004 it changes things, but I didn't establish that rule until a year or 2 ago after constantly vesting too much faith in those 3 teams.

This year I have put more faith in UConn and Louisville than I'd like to, but I never put Duke past the Sweet 16.

With that in mind, if Louisville makes it past the Sweet 16 this year, I'll probably remove that rule from the list. But the Duke rule is set in stone, haha.

LSU was the smart pick.

They were badly underseeded.

I have them beating UNC....took a huge risk but if Lawson is out, they can do it.

Maryland could be my undoing, but Cal is starting to play well and Vasquez is in early foul trouble...Randle is playing lights out

you picked the wrong 12 over a 5, Arizona is going to beat Utah...mark it down. I agree the Big Ten sucks, but Purdue has played pretty well, especially of late with Hummel being healthy.

Wisconsin over FSU is my 12/5 upset pick. I figured that game was a toss up and bought in to the 12 seed upset logic.

So you're going to pick the better team each time? Good luck with that.

I like to pick out the upsets that happen every year, the ones where the worse team wins.

Butler losing shouldn't NUKE anyone's bracket. It might dent it, but if you had them winning 2 games, you're a fucking moron.

^I agree with the first part of your statement, but you have no idea what you're talking about with Arizona, they have the only other player in the country to average a double double (Jordan Hill) besides Blake Griffin. Utah's frontcourt will be outmatched.
