Why do you leave your shopping carts all over the parking lot? Is it really that hard to walk 50 feet to put it back in the store? Do you really think leaving the cart in a parking space is good idea? [Edited on March 19, 2009 at 4:46 PM. Reason : ]

this is one of those things that i hate. if i saw someone leaving their cart out, i'd probably yell at them. maybe not yell, but at least say something.but i never see anyone in the act of doing it. which is annoying.

HT in Cam Village doesn't have cart corrals as far as I know.
3/19/2009 4:52:47 PM
but that is like a TINY parking lot. seriously. so tiny to walk it back up there.
3/19/2009 4:54:08 PM
^^ they took them out to make more parking[Edited on March 19, 2009 at 4:57 PM. Reason : TINY PARKING LOT]
3/19/2009 4:54:24 PM
people parking need a cart. now they don't have to walk inside to get one!
3/19/2009 4:56:26 PM
That lot is way too small for that store. Unfortunately yes, this results in having to dodge wayward carts, move them out of parking spaces, and hope they don't roll into your car when they're in the store. Sometimes if I'm taking mine back I'll grab another if I pass one, or I will just take one from the parking lot to do my shopping if I know I'll need one.But yes. Please to not leave them all over the place. It takes less than 60 seconds to walk it down to the door and back unless you're in the far corner of the lot.

i like to park in the "parking for expecting mothers" space. because one day ihope to have a wife that is expecting
3/19/2009 7:05:24 PM
if i'm gonna pay that much money for groceries i'll leave my cart wherever i please. which in my case happens to be back at the front of the store but... ya know... if it isn't for you, so be it
3/19/2009 7:25:45 PM
I just push my cart in the direction of the most expensive car near me.
3/19/2009 7:41:08 PM
3/19/2009 7:42:52 PM
I stopped shopping at HT for this very reason. I hated seeing shopping carts in parks, and I hated to have to walk all the way back to the store to properly put up my cart.

3/19/2009 7:47:15 PM
i like to watch people move the cart just far enough to get there car out of the space. i then push the cart into their car, and say the wind got it or i was walking and didnt see it and i ran into the cart cause it wasnt where they got it

3/20/2009 12:16:06 AM
- Only open spaces are usually (always) the opposite side of the lot from the store- No cart corrals anywhere in the lot- I try to avoid needing a cart to carry my groceries out, but if I do I usually put it on the little grass/dirt curb islands that might as well just be removed to make room for cart corrals.
3/20/2009 12:19:21 AM
i would never date or be friends with someone that didn't return their cart to the corral or inside the store or other appropriate designated area (if there are any?!). and not that does not include the tree/shrub areas or empty spaces!!!i think it says a lot about character. this is extreme, i know.so if you are my friend i would advise you NOT to tell me if you don't return your cart. i will be forced to defriend you.

If I feel that the store has overpriced merchandise then I will not help to bag my groceries, nor will I go out of my way to return the carts. I will certainly make sure that the carts are not rolling around in the parking lot, though.
3/20/2009 12:56:45 AM
^^^ umm then i guess it doesn't matter because i already don't like you ^^ what does it say? that i don't like lazy inconsiderate people? oh noooes^ i guess i can somewhat understand that. but i mean it isn't the people that work at that place's fault that the shit is overpriced. so i would feel too bad doing that on purpose. and if i noticed the merch was overpriced i guess i wouldn't purchase it to begin with?![Edited on March 20, 2009 at 12:58 AM. 3/20/2009 1:01:04 AM
depends on what you are not judging...if its something dumb like leaving your carts in the parking lot on a curb then yeah, murdering someone, no[Edited on March 20, 2009 at 1:03 AM. Reason : gramm3r]
3/20/2009 1:02:15 AM
exactly my point, dear sir
3/20/2009 1:04:50 AM
i don't think it is dumb to not want someone close to me that does something i disagree with. and don't most normal people pick friends based on personality traits and pick people they are compatible with, etc. is that not judging?why would i be friends with someone if they are rude? inconsiderate? lazy? all the way to the extreme of racist, murderer, womanizer, whatever??well i think it is rude , inconsiderate, lazy to not return a damn shopping cart so those are NOT character traits i look for in a friend. MY BAD.[Edited on March 20, 2009 at 1:06 AM. Reason : .]
3/20/2009 1:05:23 AM
well you are being uppity and judging...so maybe u only have uppity/judgy friends?[Edited on March 20, 2009 at 1:06 AM. Reason : i'm not condoning leaving carts everywhere btw...]
3/20/2009 1:06:13 AM
yea it is really uppity to want to surround myself with people who share similar ideals.it is really uppity to find courteousness appealing.its the same way i'd judge someone who is an asshole to waiters consistently or who consistently undertips for no reason, etc. it is just the way i feel. i'm not asking anyone here to be friends with me, so it doesn't really matter, does it? but yes, if i think you are an asshole (which leaving carts everywhere, in my opinion, makes you) then fine i'm uppity and judgmental. being courteous is so uppity!
3/20/2009 1:10:29 AM
If they (the store) aren't going to put cart corrals in the lot, I can only assume they (the store) do not care if I put my cart in the grass/dirt curb islands.Sorry to the employees, but they're getting paid to do it anyway. It's part of the job. Besides, like I said, I try to avoid needing a cart at all.^Also, it's being considered "uppity" in this case to judge people harshly for highly trivial issues like cart placement. Not because you like friends who are similar, everyone does that.[Edited on March 20, 2009 at 1:12 AM. Reason : .]
3/20/2009 1:10:31 AM
khcadwal have you ever actually lost a friend over them leaving carts all over the place?
3/20/2009 1:14:05 AM
^^ but see see that is the thing. i don't think it is trivial. i mean yes, it is a trivial issue like the world isn't going to end because of cart placement. so yes, in that respect, not a big deal. but i think it is assholish so that is the big deal to me. i think that it shows a lack of courteousness. i don't care if it is someone's job to do something, it takes one second to take a cart back. i don't want to be friends with an asshole. end of story. why is that hard to grasp? sorry if it is offensive to the non-cart returners of the world. if it is so trivial, just take the damn thing back!^ no. obviously not.edit: i mean if you really wanna get technical, you are judging me for saying i don't like people who don't return carts. everyone has pet peeves. would i REALLY defriend someone who didn't return a cart, probably not. would i say something about it, yes. but none of my friends (that i know of) do that, so not a problem[Edited on March 20, 2009 at 1:20 AM. Reason : .]
3/20/2009 1:18:37 AM
I agree with khcadwal. It goes along with the saying "someone who is nice to you, but rude to the waitress, is not a nice person."
3/20/2009 8:07:09 AM
^Yep.I dated a guy whose mother was an insufferable bitch to the waitstaff. I always felt embarrassed having to go eat with her when we did. I think it played a small part in our relationship ending
3/20/2009 8:22:05 AM
^^^Why were you online at 1am arguing about the ethical implications of grocery cart micro-management? Don't get me wrong, I like reading your posts, but if returning a grocery cart is a moral imperative for being friends with someone, some may think that person has some other underlying issues. I would say that the majority of people I know have left at least one cart near their car inside the parking lot without allowing it to roll into other cars. Granted, in a perfect world everyone would return their carts accordingly, but this really is a very trivial topic that is not a good basis for judging someone's character. Being rude to waitstaff is a much clearer determination of someone's aptitude for assholeness.
3/20/2009 8:50:30 AM
If I took the cart out to the parking lot, it's my responsibility to either take it to a corral or back to the store. Even if that's, like, 50 whole feet away.
3/20/2009 8:59:17 AM
I had to make my best friend put the cart in the corral before I would let him in my Jeep one time. I have called someone out for not putting the cart up on a really windy day at HT on Jones Franklin, but usually I just make snide remarks like "That seems like a good place for the shopping cart" and keep walking. I mean, 99% of the time it's just laziness and it's not going to do any damage. It's not worth making a big deal over for the most part unless they're on a hill.[Edited on March 20, 2009 at 9:03 AM.
