my gf just got a Blackberry 8330 Curve on the Verizon network. we're blackberry noobs (i have an iphone and she had an iphone) and have a few questions.

she still has 30 days to return the phone if need be. We see now that you can get a refurbed Bold for free, but its on the AT&T network. AT&T sorta sucks.. any word on when the Bold might come out on Verizon? What about the Curve 8900? Is there a better buy than the 8330 which was free w/ 2 year?

How do we find good free apps? Any suggestions?

i have at&t and have had no problems, the tech support is actually pretty good, and problems i have, they have been able to remotely install updates or just fix the problem themselves, its just like calling the office it guy, except they know what they are doing, i live in bumfuck and have never had any signal problems, a lot more than could be said for verizon or alltel

there are a few threads on here with apps - there is a pretty good one in chit chat.
(?topic=554318 has some good apps listed in it - just google them.)

AT&T does suck.

8330 for free is a good deal.

don't know anything about the 8900. I know that the 8330 is a great phone though

Bold is up in the air. Supposedly, the next Verizon BB is going to be the Niagra (cross between Bold's features w/ Curve 8900's size)

You should check out http://www.crackberry.com. It's pretty much the definitive BB forum/site.

Curve 8330 is pretty much the top business phone on Verizon. The Storm isn't bad after you get used to it & you install one of the Beta OS's but I ended up selling mine after a few months and going back to the Curve.

I would stick with the 8330. It's 3G, unlike AT&T's Curve (even the 8900), and the Niagara doesn't come out until May.

there is a really good reason that RIM has a large marketshare. i disliked them before i had to use them all the time. i do like the bold, but it says something that they are making 'niagra'.

the only problem i had with verizon and the 8330 was the fact that for a while they blocked BB maps from using the built in gps. the newer version of the software 4.5 allows for gps navigation.
