I put a coat of Meguiars Yellow wax on the 4Runner yesterday so the pollen will wipe right off.

california duster is bad for paint, you are sliding dirt and debris against the surface without any lubrication to lift them up off the paint.

Yeah I'm now washing my car at least every week if possible. Of course not two hours later I noticed pollen on the hood

Oh well, the pads are so dusty the front wheels get dirty every week anyway.

You use the California duster very lightly. It has wax in the fibers to lift the dust off the car without having to use any pressure. I really don't think it'll hurt anything, but if you're one of those insanely anal people I guess you might not want to use it. I only use it this time of year, but I keep a good coat of wax on the car and the pollen lifts very easily.

^^well, before daylight savings there wasn't time to wash the car during the week before loosing the light, and as it rained on the weekends quite often I wasn't able to keep her clean on a weekly basis.

Since daylight savings yes she's been washed on a weekly basis, it just happened to coincide with the pollen's arrival so I guess its just trivial (with the exception of having to clean the interior more often due to pollen as well)

nope, doesn't scratch. i have dark paint, so you can see swirls or scratches easily.

i have two dusters. one with pariffin wax and one that i wash and coat with silicone. they both work, except the one i can wash doesn't carry around dirt.

i also use the in between spray that breaks up dirt and dust allowing me to wipe it off.

it's not that big of a bitch once you have a good coat of wax on it and it really becomes a spray on/wipe the whole car down thing. it's better than having to wash the thing all the time.

If you want to make a little difference in the pollen, waxing with a "Sealant or Synthetic" is a good idea. Carnauba wax attracts dust, so that will make it worse. Mothers Syn Wax or Duragloss #111 are good locally available sealants.

Also, if you want to make a bigger difference in the amount of pollen that lands on your car, consider an anti-static quick detailer. http://www.fk1usa.com offers FK425. Its a wipe on/wipe off quick detailer that has anti static properties. Once applied, it wont prevent pollen from landing, but it will drastically reduce the amount that does land.
